In the Star Wars franchise, there are a variety of relationships that happen. From iconic couples like Han and Leia to unlikable ones like Pe and Anakin, there have been all kinds of romantic relationships in these films.

While many fans love some of the canon relationships, there were also some relationships that never got explored that fans wanted to see. There were many pairings that definitely could have gotten together but that didn't for one reason or another. Here are ten of those couples.

Poe Dameron and Rey

Star Wars Rise of Skywalker Rey Finn Poe

Rey and Poe are both more commonly shipped with other people than each other, but after The Rise of Skywalker, some fans have noticed an interesting chemistry between the two of them. The fact that they are both so close to Finn causes some tension between them, and they both have personalities that clash a little.

Despite this, they are also friends and care about each other, this dynamic is one that appeals to many people cause it’s tension-filled but also about friendship. A relationship between Poe, Finn, and Rey might have made the most sense of all.

Kylo Ren and Armitage Hux

Captain Phasma General Hux and Kylo Ren in Star Wars The Force Awakens

One of the most common LGBT ships in Star Wars fandom the past few years is between Kylo Ren and Hux. Clearly, this didn’t happen in the films as Hux betrays Kylo and ends up getting killed because of this.

However, in the earlier films of the trilogy, fans thought a relationship between these two villains would be really interesting. While it might not have been the best example for the first LGBT couple in the franchise, it would make some sense.

Baze and Chirrut

Star Wars Rogue One's Baze and Chirrut during the Battle of Scarif

This couple is one that would have been really easy to make canon. These two were very close friends that seemed to have the type of close partnership that could be romantic.

Many fans felt that it was hard to tell if they were meant to be platonic or romantic. While these two both met tragic ends at the end of Rogue One, they are still one of the strongest contenders of an obvious LGBT pairing in these movies.

Rose Tico and Rey

Rose Tico’s character was one that didn’t really get her due. She was basically written out of The Rise of Skywalker and was made into barely a side character.

While fans didn’t get the chance to see these two interact very much, they still would have made a lot of sense together. They were both talented and committed of the Resistance, and they could have been positive, uplifting forces in one another's' lives.

Han Solo and Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker and Han Solo

There's no denying that Han Solo and Leia are one of the most legendary and beloved couples in the entire Star Wars franchise. They have a lot of chemistry, and they are good together.

While this is true, this doesn’t mean there isn’t an alternate universe where He could have been with Luke. This pairing has a solid fan base who notes that they also have chemistry and become close as the original trilogy progresses.

Pe Amidala and Obi-Wan Kenobi

Given that there isn’t any real LGBT+ representation in the Star Wars movies so far, it makes sense that many of the most popular fan paintings, and pairings that make sense but didn’t happen, are between two men or two women. However, there are also some heterosexual pairings that would have worked well that didn’t become canon.

Many fans have pointed out that Pe and Obi-Wan were actually much more suited as a couple when it comes to the maturity level and personalities than Pe and Anakin.

iral Holdo and Leia Organa

Star Wars The Last Jedi Laura Dern as iral Holdo and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa Behind the Scenes

One of the most obvious potential queer relationships between two women in the franchise is between Holdo and Leia. There is actually some textual evidence for this when looking at supplemental Star Wars properties. It’s revealed in Leia, Princess of Alderaan that these two knew each other for years and also that Holden is a queer woman.

The fact that they’ve known each other for so long and clearly care for and respect one another makes it easy to imagine them having a romantic relationship at some point.

Lando Calrissian and Han Solo

Han Solo is a rather charismatic and attractive character, so it’s not shocking that he seems like someone who could get along well with many people romantically.

While Lando and Han have a friendship that is also a rivalry at times, they have a lot of chemistry with one another and a long history of knowing one another. This dynamic would be interesting to explore, and it’s not hard to see how it could have been done.

Rey and Finn

While there are many fans of the Rey and Kylo Ren relationship, there are also fans who think that Rey and Finn would have been a much better couple. Finn and Rey are best friends, and Finn has been there for Rey in ways that no one else has. He is ive and caring where the dynamic with Rey and Kylo is a lot more unhealthy.

It’s unfortunate that Finn didn’t get more of his own storyline as well because many people wanted to see him become a Jedi and for these two to be a power couple.

Finn and Poe Dameron

One of the most talked-about and loved potential relationships from the new Star Wars trilogy is between Finn and Poe. Many fans noticed this potential from the start, and many critics and media outlets have pointed out that they seemed like they should be a romantic couple. In fact, the actors themselves were big ers who pushed for this relationship to him, and Oscar Isaac was particularly vocal about believing that they should date.

This is one couple that should have happened, and many fans were disappointed it didn’t happen as they felt it was only because they happened to be two men.
