Darth Revan is one of the greatest Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, there is much about the character that is unknown. After all, the player can choose quite a bit about Revan from their gender to their personality.

However, in Revan's canon surrounding the game, such as events referenced before or even other games like the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, fans are given a better understanding of the person Revan was and the person that Revan would eventually become. In Star Wars Legends canon, Revan eventually comes back to the light side of the Force after their time as a Sith Lord. These are their most impressive accomplishments, both as a Sith Lord and otherwise.

10 Revan Cut Off The Jaw Of Darth Malak In Battle

The Two Sith Were In Conflict Before Knights Of The Old Republic

One of the defining relationships throughout Knights of the Old Republic is that of Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Originally meeting as Jedi, these two fell to the dark side together during the Mandalorian Wars in an attempt to push back the Mandalorian threat and save the galaxy. The two of them were master and student, with Revan teaching Malak the ways of the dark side.

Despite this seemingly set in stone relationship dynamic, the two of them would come into conflict even before Revan was brainwashed by the Jedi. At some point, though the event is shrouded in mystery, the two began a fight that resulted in Malak losing the bottom half of his jaw. Brutal and life-changing, this shows not only how ruthless Revan was as a Sith, but how powerful they were as well.

9 Bastila Shan And Revan Developed A Powerful Force Bond

In Star Wars Legends Canon, The Two Were In Love

Bonds in the Force are notoriously difficult to create. After all, Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious tried and failed to create one between the two, with one of few successful Force bonds being the one between Rey and Kylo Ren. Even so, after fighting against Darth Revan and bringing him back to the Jedi, they formed a Force Bond with Bastila Shan as if by the will of the Force itself.

This is especially poignant in Star Wars Legends canon, as the two of them would go on to fall in love and even have a child together. Many of these events would lead to what happens in the Shadow of Revan expansion in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Through the Force, Revan and Bastila have a very special connection, one that even the strongest of Sith would later fail to replicate.

8 Darth Revan Created A Sith Holocron That Laid The Groundwork For The Rule Of Two

Darth Bane Used Revan's Teachings For The Rule Of Two

Although Darth Bane is the Sith best known for instituting the Rule of Two, originally the idea was sparked from the teachings left behind by Darth Revan. In Legends, Revan used the power of the dark side to create a Sith Holocron, created in order to bring his teachings to the next generation of Sith. Although the exact process for creating a Sith Holocron is not exactly set in stone, the process is incredibly difficult, taking Darth Bane himself many years of trial and error to master.

The process is also unique for each Sith, making it that much more difficult to really learn how to create one. The fact that Revan was able to create one on their own is impressive enough, making what is essentially a copy of their consciousness and storing it inside the Holocron. They did alone what Darth Bane needed outside help to achieve, showing just how intelligent they were as a Sith prodigy.

7 Revan Brought Both Bastila Shan And Juhani Back To The Light Side Of The Force

The Two Fell To The Dark Side In Knights Of The Old Republic

Throughout the course of Knights of the Old Republic, the player is given many choices that lean either towards the light or dark side of the Force. This is most apparent when considering Revan's companions, the Jedi Bastila Shan and Juhani. Both of them have the capacity to fall to the dark side forever, with this struggle between light and dark being the state in which the player meets Juhani for the first time.

If playing a light side Revan, the player can successfully coax them both back from the brink, showing that Revan can be just as much of a powerful force of good as they can of evil. Juhani can be convinced to let go of her anger and Bastila can be brought back from the manipulation she suffered at the hands of Darth Malak. Revan is an influential figure regardless of the story told, and this perhaps results in the best outcome for everyone involved.

6 Revan And Canderous Ordo Rediscovered Mandalore’s Mask

Canderous Ordo Became Mandalore The Preserver

A one-time mercenary and full-time Mandalorian, throughout the course of the game Canderous Ordo is quick to choose violence when it comes to solving problems. Although he is best known for accompanying Revan to stop Darth Malak from activating the Star Forge, their relationship did not end there. After the events of the game, Revan accompanies him to find the Mask of Mandalore, an item in Star Wars Legends that serves a similar role to that of the Darksaber in canon because of the way that it denotes the leader of the Mandalorians.

Throughout this journey to find Mandalore's Mask, Canderous and Revan braved dangerous ice columns and even Sith tombs. Upon finding the mask inside the tomb of the Sith Lord Dramath, the duo were attacked by Canderous' wife, Veela Ordo, as well as a group of Mandalorians. After fighting and barely coming out the victors with their lives intact, Revan convinced Canderous to take up the mask and become the leader of the Mandalorians as Mandalore the Preserver.

5 Revan Defeated Mandalore The Ultimate In One-On-One Combat

This Caused The Mandalorian People To Fall Apart Without Leadership

Before the events of Knights of the Old Republic, Revan spearheaded the offensive that fought back against the Mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars. An excellent tactician and even greater combatant, it is likely because of Revan's involvement that the Mandalorians were defeated at all. A big part of this swift victory came as a result of a single duel between Revan and the leader of the Mandalorians, Mandalore the Ultimate.

The two met in one-on-one combat that resulted in the death of Mandalore the Ultimate's defeat. Now that the Mandalorians had been left without a leader, their unity would eventually crumble and allow Revan to defeat them once and for all. This victory was soon cemented by Meetra Surik, who led many of the Mandalorians to Malachor V before setting off the Mass Shadow Generator, wiping out countless people on the planet's surface and resulting in tragedy.

4 Reven Defeated Darth Malak And Prevented The Rise Of The Sith Empire

The Story Of Knights Of The Old Republic Show How Powerful He Is

Knights of the Old Republic is a game full of twists and turns, as well as a good amount of player choice, but the journey is a constant buildup to the final confrontation with Darth Malak. Everywhere the player turns, there are reminders of the Sith's oppression. Despite making few appearances throughout the game, the evil of Darth Malak can be felt everywhere, as if to show how powerful he has become.

Despite this, Revan still manages to defeat him and stop Malak from using the Star Forge to bring the Sith Empire back in full force. Revan starts from nothing, building up from having all of their memories taken from them and forgetting about all of their powers, and still manages to become one of the most powerful people in the galaxy a second time. It shows that it wasn't luck that Revan found themselves where they were in the galaxy, but rather raw power and incredible wit.

3 Revan Outmaneuvered The Mandalorians And Defeated Them In All Out War

He Was A Brutal Warrior And A Master Tactician

Before Revan left the Jedi to contribute to the war effort, the Mandalorians were running rampant across the galaxy. They pillaged entire planets and enslaved races such as the Cathar, making the galaxy a dangerous place to live in. While this does not excuse many of the actions Revan would later take in service of this cause, it shows that there was a need that the Jedi were not meeting.

Without Revan, it is likely that the Mandalorian threat would never have ended. Revan was the one who inspired the likes of Darth Malak and Meetra Surik to the cause, helping to defeat a threat that was once thought unbeatable in an attempt to protect the galaxy. And though Meetra Surik was the only one not to fall to the dark side by the end of it because of the drastic measures taken, everything started out of a desire to protect what was being lost.

2 Revan Withstood Extended Torture At The Hands Of The Sith Emperor

The Sith Emperor Vitiate Nearly Dragged Revan Back To The Dark Side

Long after the events of Knights of the Old Republic, Revan would eventually be captured by Darth Nyriss and Scourge, a pair of Sith wanting to use the knowledge of how the Jedi overcame the Sith Emperor, Vitiate, in the hopes of learning out to do so themselves. They attempted to torture this information out of Revan, using an interrogation droid to do so. This torture went on for the next three years, and Revan still did not break.

Revan's freedom would come from an unlikely place, as though Meetra Surik would eventually track them down, Scourge would be the one to truly free them. They would go on to confront the Emperor themselves, only for Revan to be captured again, this time by the Emperor. This time, their Force signature would be completely split in two, with the light side of them attempting to become one with the Force and the dark side remaining behind.

1 Revan Was So Powerful He Could Pull Meteors Down From The Sky

Very Few Were Ever Considered To Be As Powerful

In a bit of a unique twist compared to the rest of the series, Star Wars: The Old Republic's expansion Shadow of Revan actually culminates in a fight with the great Sith. Not only is Revan's HP bar astronomically more than two million hit points, but he also brings meteors down from the sky to throw at the player character as if they were nothing more than marbles. The fight is an incredibly difficult one, successfully capping off years of love for such a great character.

When held in context with the rest of Revan's impressive feats, this battle really shows just how powerful the Sith really is. Their presence was instrumental in so many events during the Old Republic era, and without Revan many things simply would not have happened. They are perhaps one of the strongest characters in all of Star Wars, both in canon and otherwise.
