Quantic Dream’s the first Star Wars High Republic video game, appearing to have a darker sci-fi storyline and offering a new perspective on the Star Wars franchise. The trailer included iconic Star Wars entities, such as lightsabers, Coruscant, and Jedi Master Yoda. Despite its debut reveal, not a lot is known about Quantic Dream’s Star Wars game, with the core story and main gameplay features still veiled in secrecy.
There are still some major details known about Star Wars Eclipse. The game is set during the High Republic, which occurred 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Lucasfilm, under the direction of Disney, has begun to explore this time period in a series of books, which have had positive fan reception. According to Star Wars lore, the High Republic was a golden age for both the Republic and the Jedi Order, before Emperor Palpatine began concocting his plans for the Galactic Empire. The Star Wars Eclipse timeline is filled with many possible adventures, as Jedi explore the Outer Rim. Star Wars Eclipse is set to expand the High Republic in many ways, showcasing the Republic’s slow decline, as well as introducing new characters to the canon. Following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, many fans are excited to jump into another Star Wars video game and see what the High Republic has to offer.
Outlined in a YouTube video from known leaker Star Wars Eclipse has reportedly been in development for over a year-and-a-half, but is still far from ready, as there is currently no playable version. Quantic Dream is also still dealing with the backlash over its alleged work culture, and staff shortages are said to be making Star Wars Eclipse’s development more difficult.

Quantic Dream previously faced a series of allegations including staff misconduct, as well as homophobia, misogyny, and toxicity in the workplace. Though the studio has developed a few standout games like Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls, many fans were disappointed to learn that Quantic Dream is developing Star Wars Eclipse. When the game’s studio was revealed, #BlackoutStarWarsEclipse was trending on Twitter, with fans begging for the Star Wars game to be handed off to a different studio. With the increased attention on sexual harassment and abusive work environments within the game industry, many fans want Quantic Dream to face a reckoning for its alleged actions.
It’s important to note that Quantic Dream has not commented on any development issues involving Star Wars Eclipse, and with Henderson's claims unconfirmed, it's possible the game is coming along as planned. Still, many Star Wars fans believe the title would be better in the hands of another studio, and if the alleged development trouble is true, it’s very possible that the game won't see the light of day for even longer than expected.
