Star Wars (later retitled A New Hope) is McGregor's uncle. This built the foundation for McGregor's own Star Wars legacy over a decade before the actor was even cast as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ever since, more and more of McGregor's family has also become a part of the Star Wars franchise. McGregor's daughter, Esther Rose, made a cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show on the planet Daiyu as a spice dealer who offers the Jedi a complimentary vial. One year later, in the Ahsoka TV show, McGregor's wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead made her debut as General Hera Syndulla, a character originally from the animated Star Wars Rebels TV show. Now, yet another one of McGregor's close companions is making their galactic debut in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew: his former roommate.

Jude Law Was Once Ewan McGregor's Roommate

Now The Two Are Star Wars Stars

Jude Law, starring as Jod Na Nawood in Star Wars' next TV show, was McGregor's roommate long ago. Law discusses this in a recent interview with Jake's Takes, where he's reminded of his past with McGregor and is asked if there's anything Law consulted with his former roommate about regarding his Star Wars experience. While Law explains that they, sadly, have been forced their separate ways over time due to their respective careers and overall life paths, Law does reflect on the excitement of McGregor's casting as Obi-Wan and what he recalls about the actor's production process.

Now, many years later, it's Law's turn to jump into the Star Wars galaxy. Law will be portraying the lead character in the Skeleton Crew cast alongside a group of four children, the latter of whom gets lost in space. Law's character has been said to be a "different kind of Jedi" and seemingly uses the Force in a teaser trailer, but Law has been hinting that not everything is as it seems - which means his character may not be a Jedi quite like his former roommate's.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres December 3 on Disney+.

Star Wars Really Is A Family Business For Ewan McGregor!

He Has No Shortage Of Connections

What's hilarious is that it's starting to look as if McGregor is going to forever be associated with Star Wars simply on the basis of family and friends. From his uncle in the very first Star Wars movie to his wife, daughter, and his former roommate, McGregor's legacy in Star Wars stretches far beyond his own performance as Obi-Wan Kenobi. One has to wonder which relative or friend of McGregor will be cast in Star Wars next, as it seems like anything or anyone McGregor knows and holds close begins to turn into galactic gold.
