Star Wars: Rebels. Ezra’s unique way of thinking is reflected in his first lightsaber. Part blaster and part lightsaber, Ezra’s weapon stands out among others in the Star Wars universe, making a significant statement about his Jedi journey.
In season one, episode 10 of Star Wars: Rebels entitled "Path of the Jedi", Ezra discovers a lost Jedi Temple on his home planet, Lothal. Once he journeys inside, Ezra is guided through the temple by Yoda and is put through trials that test Ezra’s Jedi potential.
At the end, Yoda is quite satisfied with Ezra’s devotion to the Force and to freedom, and grants Ezra a kyber crystal. Once Ezra reveals the crystal to his master, Kanan Jarrus, Kanan allows Ezra to build his own lightsaber, just like he did as a Jedi padawan. The result is a unique weapon that's perfectly suited to Ezra's skills, allowing him to duel like a Jedi and deliver a volley of fire like a scrappy rogue.

Why Star Wars' Sith Have Such Unique Lightsabers (Compared to Jedi)
While Jedi stick to single-bladed lightsabers, the Sith are much more likely to experiment with the weapon, but the difference isn't a coincidence.
Ezra's Unique Lightsaber Represents His Own Versatility
Like the Lightsaber, Ezra Bridger is More Dangerous Than He Appears
The versatility of the weapon is explored in the 2022 Star Wars: Rebels graphic novel created by Martin Fisher, Jeremy Barlow, Alec Worley, Bob Molesworth, Ingo Rӧmling and more. Ezra is able to flip from one weapon to the other with incredible ease, tricking his foes into underestimating his range before dealing out blaster fire. Then, once they switch to dealing with the blaster's energy bolts, Ezra either gets up close and personal again with the lightsaber or else switches to unexpectedly using the Force. Ezra's weapon allows him to constantly keep his enemies guessing - a different type of skill than pure mastery of the blade.
Even Ahsoka’s iconic sabers, though perfectly suited to her fighting style, training, and skill set, lack the versatility of Ezra’s lightsaber blaster combo.
Prior to making his lightsaber, Ezra fought with a slightslot-like weapon of his own creation. His workshop on Lothal is full of concoctions that only Ezra could invent with his creative way of thinking. Ezra's lightsaber is no exception to his ingenuity and is fitting for someone from his background. As an orphan and thief on the streets of Lothal, Ezra had to use whatever was at his disposal to survive. A lightsaber with a hidden blaster functionality equips Ezra for any scenario, allowing him to adapt to any situation as he did during his time on the streets.

Kylo Ren's Lightsaber Is Cool, But One Sith Leader Totally Changes the Game With Their Blade
Kylo Ren has a unique lightsaber that makes an already cool weapon cooler, with a Star Wars: Legacy character having a saber that rivals Kylo's blade.
Other Jedi Lightsabers May Be Notable, But Not Like Ezra’s
There Are Centuries Upon Centuries of Jedi History
For the most part, Jedi that appear in all forms of Star Wars media - from comics to movies - carry a traditional cylindrically hilted lightsaber. With very little variation, the blades are almost always green or blue (unless you're Mace Windu). After Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order and the Republic falls, she crafts white lightsabers, which are also one-of-a-kind. However, even Ahsoka’s iconic sabers, though perfectly suited to her fighting style, training, and skill set, lack the versatility and creativity of Ezra’s lightsaber/blaster combo.
Eventually, Ezra loses his first unique lightsaber in a confrontation with Darth Vader on the planet Malachor. The confrontation on Malachor leads to an outcome more disastrous than a destroyed lightsaber, as the mission to Malachor was where Darth Maul blinds Kanan and where Ahsoka duels her former master in an emotional fight to (presumed) death. After Malachor, Star Wars shows how Ezra crafts another lightsaber that is more traditional in style and has no tricks built in, representing his growth as a Jedi who no longer needs to rely on the same tactics he did as a child.
