Luke Skywalker did more than train Rey and reconnect with the Force in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as he also felt the presence of his father, Anakin, and his master, Obi-Wan. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the second installment in the sequel trilogy, which follows a new generation of heroes (Rey, Poe Dameron, and Finn) and villains (Kylo Ren, Snoke), with the guidance of some characters from the original trilogy.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans witnessed the return of Luke Skywalker after his self-imposed exile in Ahch-To and his disconnection with the Force. After much hesitation, Luke agreed to train Rey, and thanks to this he reconnected with the Force, meaning that he could feel the presence of Force Ghosts once more. In fact, he was greeted by the spirit of Yoda, who taught him that failure is the greatest teacher. But Luke’s reconnection with the Force also meant that he could feel the presence of other spirits, not just Yoda.

Luke Skywalker in Star Wars The Last Jedi with Obi-Wan Kenobi Force Ghost

As mentioned above, the Luke that’s sharing all this information is the one seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, with Sumerak adding that thanks to this, Luke is able to look past “the glorified stories of the Jedi of old to find the truth about the Order”, giving a more objective look at the history of the Jedi. However, it’s possible that it was written by Luke after the events in The Last Jedi, as he mentions that Obi-Wan’s Force ghost could “even interact with the physical world” – now that Luke is one with the Force himself, he could be writing this guide from beyond the physical plane.

With Luke’s return as a Force Ghost, the details shared in The Secrets of the Jedi will fuel the fans’ desires of seeing the ghosts of Anakin and Obi-Wan in the final film of the saga. After all, Star Wars: The Last Jedi proved that anything, even the unthinkable for some, can happen.
