With the internet being a haven for fans to indulge themselves in with their favorite franchise, there are thousands of memes available in tribute to these fandoms. Not only do people make memes for one series, they also create posts that blend two franchises together.
In today’s landscape, Star Wars and Harry Potter are among the biggest series one can find, and there has been a significant clash between fans of either side claiming their franchise is the best. However, we haven’t focused as much on the butting heads aspect as much as on harmonizing the fandoms in this list, and here are 10 memes that feature both Star Wars and Harry Potter. Let’s see which side you lean toward by the end.
Battle Of The Dark Lords
One of the biggest points people from other fandoms love to use against Harry Potter fans is the fact that its main villain lost to a group of school kids. Voldemort might have conquered the country, but he remained clueless against a little boy.
On the other hand, Emperor Palpatine (and Sauron as seen in the meme) was able to rule the entire galaxy for decades while manipulating powerful guys like Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. Putting these points together really doesn’t make Voldemort seem like much of a threat, does it?
Suspiciously Similar
Who knows, maybe JK Rowling might have another change of heart and claim that Harry Potter was always meant to be set in the Star Wars universe after checking out this meme. Here, you get the sense that Harry Potter really might have ripped off Star Wars to an extent.
After all, even the hairy sidekick requirement was fulfilled by Hagrid, who also was somewhat similar to Chewbacca in personality. Plus, the resemblance between Voldemort and Darth Vader is uncanny. So, the question is which of these two series pulled the same formula off better?
Who Would Win?
The joke here is that in this picture Rey looks a lot like Hogwarts’ resident know-it-all, to the point that you might think she’s transitioned over to this series to take on Kylo Ren. We have to it that sounds like a pretty cool match-up too.
Kylo Ren was also a pretty big smart aleck, as he loved to flaunt the fact that he was one step ahead of others on numerous occasions. Going against Hermione might be his greatest challenge yet, seeing as Hermione would never quit, especially at being a know-it-all.
The Same Old Argument
Star Wars fans are simultaneously hateful toward their own films and are deeply protective of them at the same time. If you’re to argue that another series is better, then prepare to be met with Star Wars fans’ wrath.
For the most part, this fanbase sees Harry Potter fans as children, seeing as most of the Star Wars fanbase leans toward the older side. So, any comment on how Harry Potter is better is generally met with a similar expression as the one Tony Stark has here, as Star Wars fans consider this argument invalid.
Who Did It Better?
Perhaps the best way to judge which series is better could be by putting the characters in the same scene. Of course, that’s impossible to do, but this meme did a good job in replicating something similar using a Harry Potter scene.
And we’ll have to it that the meme, while hilarious for poking fun at Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker’s famous scene, does make us want to see this exchange played out. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that Harry and Hermione’s conversation turns out to be even better.
Who Needs Jedi?
Jedi can’t be wizards but can wizards be Jedi? According to this meme, not only is that possible, but it implies that the Harry Potter gang would make for an even cooler Jedi team. There’s definitely potential in the idea too, as we could see magic be incorporated with the Force.
It also implies that the Force of magic only runs in the family, as just the Weasleys are shown wielding the lightsabers. Just like we got the “Skywalker Saga” about one family in the Star Wars canon, who’s to say we can’t get another with this ginger family?
As If One Emo Dude Wasn't Enough
The only way to take Harry out for good might be an alliance between this series and Star Wars, as Harry’s worst nightmare would be the return of Snape. Considering Kylo Ren’s all-black style and long locks, he’s been compared to Severus Snape a lot, with some even joking that Ren is actually Snape’s son.
As far as this contest goes, Harry would be beat before picking up his wand, as the possibility of Snape having a son would be enough for Harry to take his own life. If Snape were to return using Kylo Ren’s body, then you can be certain many die-hard Snape fans would flock over to Star Wars in a heartbeat.
That Darth Burn
One of the bigger advantages Star Wars has over Harry Potter is the fact that it has a cooler looking villain. While the books had Voldemort written out to be snake-like and pure evil, the films ended up making him a hammy character with no nose.
Even though Darth Vader isn’t really in a position to make judgments on anybody’s appearance, considering he’s a guy who has the most charred body in cinema, even he doled out a sick burn to Voldemort in this meme for his lack of a nose.
Who Knew Vader Was A Fan?
As the most popular character from the series, and being responsible for a number of cool scenes fans love to watch over and again, it kind of makes sense Darth Vader would want to branch out and check out other fandoms as well.
It also makes sense why he would be a fan of Voldemort, seeing as the Dark Lord of the Harry Potter universe has a lot of similar traits to Vader himself. In this meme, we’re not seeing the fandoms clashing; rather, it appears to be Darth Vader’s turn towards becoming a Potterhead himself.
Marry Her
As far as demographics go, the Harry Potter fanbase has far more female fans than Star Wars does, the latter mainly comprising of male viewers. So, it’s understandable why the creator of this meme was over the moon to have his girlfriend suggest Star Wars instead of Harry Potter.
With the lukewarm reception of the latest trilogy, it’s an even bigger deal that the guy’s girlfriend would forego the opportunity to watch Harry Potter in favor of Star Wars. And as every fan will confirm, this is the kind of girl you marry and never let go.
