The Star Wars Universe is chock-full of different types of alien characters, with some being much more interesting than others. However, one silly character, a rabbit-like creature named Jaxxon from the original comics that Star Wars creator George Lucas didn't like, was later made canon.

Jaxxon T. Tumperakki was essentially a Bugs Bunny analog, who was a tall, green Lepi - which resembled a rabbit with a human body. Jaxxon first appeared in Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin's original Star Wars comic book series in issue #8. He originally was introduced as a smuggler who knew Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. In the first Star Wars comics (which are now considered non-canon), Jaxxon's cartoonish nature made him stick out like a sore thumb, which according to Thomas, didn't sit well with George Lucas.

In Brian Cronin's Comic Book Legends Revealed series at CBR.com, Thomas said that Lucas wasn't a fan of Jaxxon and that despite the character not being all that much weirder than some other Star Wars creatures, Lucas took issue with the character.

George particularly disliked one of the Seven being a six-foot alien who resembled a green Bugs Bunny in space gear.

I had figured my “green rabbit” Jaxxon wasn’t really much weirder than a Wookiee, but obviously George, as the creator of the Star Wars mythos, felt differently.

Despite Lucas' sour opinion of Jaxxon, he would later be put back into Star Wars canon multiple times. He would appear in Star Wars Adventures Annual (2018) by Cavan Scott, Mauricet, Tom B. Long, and Chris Fenoglio, where he was hired by Queen Prizzi of Livorno to help transport the eggs of Livorno to Princess Leia Organa to ensure that their race would live on. Jaxxon is initially hesitant to work with the Rebellion but after he's told Han Solo might get the call instead if he doesn't take the contract, he immediately takes the job. It turns out Jaxxon is hired to protect decoy eggs so that imperial agents would be thrown off the scent of the real ones. It ends well for Jaxxon as Leia makes Han repair his ship.

Jaxxon has since appeared in other Star Wars Adventures stories, including the "Hare Brained Heist," and "Rabbit Hunt." He technically might have appeared in Star Wars canon before the more recent stories, as it was implied in the episode "A Sunny Day in the Void," of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, that the skeletal remains of someone wearing a similar jumpsuit might have been him.

It's understandable why Jaxxon was hated on by Lucas from the jump. But, his inherent silliness made him worth revisiting later in canon. At the very least, the Jaxxon is a character that children or young readers can enjoy when he shows up in Star Wars Adventures - even if he wasn't George Lucas' favorite character.
