Jaro Tapal from Clone Wars-era flashbacks during Jedi: Fallen Order, but he made a considerable impression among fans thanks to his strength in the Force, memorable final moments, and the fact that he is a member of the rare and popular Lasat species, who were inspired by Ralph McQuarrie's concept sketches for the original Star Wars film.
Like most Star Wars media, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has spawned a wave of Hasbro-produced figures within the Star Wars Black Series line. Most of these depict Cal Kestis in his various Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks, including his signature customizable poncho. There are also figures of Cal’s many enemies seen in Respawn's game, such as the Nightbrothers of Dathomir and Jedi: Fallen Order’s main antagonist Trilla Suduri - aka the Second Sister of the Inquisitorius. However, Hasbro has yet to release an action figure of Cal’s heroic teacher Jaro Tapal despite many fans wishing for a collectible version of the brave and powerful Jedi Master.
A few days ago, a Reddit by the handle of Mortal Kombat 11's scarred killer Kabal that doubles as the bottom half of Taro’s Jedi tunic. Tappedoutforever included a picture of their custom Jaro Tapal figure standing alongside other fan-made Star Wars Black Series toys - including one of Cal Kestis as a fully-grown Jedi outcast.
Jaro Tapal's Legacy Lives On In Cal Kestis Throughout Jedi: Fallen Order
Jaro Tapal may have died years before the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but his legacy will live on through Cal Kestis in the sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Not a whole lot is known about Jedi: Survivor’s plot yet, save that it will reportedly take Cal to a much darker place than his already harrowing experience from the previous game. A new Star Wars vintage-style figure has already given fans a preview of Cal's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor redesign, and it’s almost a certainty that there will be even more toys released when the game launches sometime next year.
In the meantime, fans are still waiting for a Black Series figure of Jaro Tapal, the tough-but-fair Jedi Master whose noble sacrifice made the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order possible by ensuring that Cal Kestis survived Order 66. Tappedoutforever’s custom-made figure fills this void quite nicely, capturing the armored look of the ill-fated mentor with a surprising amount of detail and creative improvisation.
