Respawn has added New Game Plus and additional cosmetics to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, giving players just enough information to explore and figure out the environment and the next step in their quest, and respawning enemies when the player-character meditates to replenish their health and acquire new skills.
The game’s story takes fans through a typical the game wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, it hit home for nostalgic fans who wanted to get back to that old school Star Wars feel that existed in a time long, long past.
According to Respawn’s official Twitter page, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is adding a New Game Plus mode and cosmetics to owners of the title for free. Fans who wish to replay the game’s story using all their unlocked skills, abilities, and costumes from their previous playthrough will be able to embrace that dream. Moreover, the update adds new combat challenges and a game mode called Battle Grid – a sandbox-style mode where players can create their own combat challenges, placing enemies on a “grid” to form their own combat scenarios. Interested fans can watch the update’s reveal trailer below.
The new cosmetics include skins for Cal’s faithful droid companion, BD-1, and a costume for Cal called “Inquisitor Cal” in which the main character is reskinned as a more sinister version of himself – the personification of those who wish to exterminate him. The new additions to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order add a ton of “replayability.” New Game Plus, specifically, gives gamers a reason to go back through the game’s story without worrying about grinding for experience points and rediscovering the secret locations containing items such as lightsaber crystals and other cosmetics. It allows for a purely story-driven experience that’s elevated by enhanced combat from start to finish.
However, that is not to say the new combat challenges and Battle Grid mode are of no value. Indeed, New Game Plus alone would not be enough to bring many fans back to the game. There must be something new, something exciting that gives players new goals to achieve. The new combat challenges do just that - give players the opportunity to overcome new obstacles and perfect the skills and reflexes they honed during their playthrough of the game’s primary campaign. Furthermore, the Battle Grid gives fans the opportunity to exercise their creativity and challenge themselves and, perhaps, other players.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released on November 15, 2019 and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One; coming soon to Google Stadia.
