There are plenty of reasons to be skeptical that the highly-anticipated KOTOR remake’s switch in developers from Asypr to Saber Interactive will also set the project back a great deal, humorously claiming that he “has a Wookie to sell” anyone who believes that such a drastic shift in development can happen without any major delays.

KOTOR Remake Probably Won’t Be Released In 2024

He isn’t wrong in this assessment, as developing such a massive title like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is a large and complex undertaking even without the issues that have reportedly plagued Aspyr Media. Having a completely different studio, even one as well-regarded as Saber Interactive, pick up where Aspyr left off and try to complete an entirely separate staff's vision for the project will complicate things further, as the new development team would need time to familiarize themselves with the work that has been done already. Additionally, no gameplay or combat of the KOTOR remake was shown even before the shake-up, which indicates that the game was still in the early stages of development even before the transfer to Saber Interactive.

Embracer Group may claim that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is proceeding as planned without any major delays, but it's natural to be skeptical that a major shift in the development process like transferring the project over to an entirely new staff can be done without drastically setting the game's launch window back. Whether or not the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is getting delayed as previous reports have indicated, it will likely be a long time before fans dive back into this revered corner of the non-canon Star Wars timeline.
