Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars FPS Game Reportedly Canceled
According to IGN, the Star Wars first-person shooter rumored to be in development at Respawn Entertainment has been canceled. The cancelation comes alongside Electronic Arts, Respawn's parent company, laying off 5% of its workforce – roughly 670 employees. Screen Rant's original story, detailing the FPS supposedly centered on a Mandalorian character, continues below.
A new The Mandalorian. Since the premiere of the latter, which began with a bounty-of-the-week setup, a game centered on such a character has been a popular request from fans, and now that dream appears to be approaching reality.
According to a report from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The main character is reportedly going to be a bounty hunter, though their exact identity remains unknown, and the first-person game will take place during the height of the Galactic Empire's power. Notably, Respawn Entertainment is also responsible for the Titanfall series, and Titanfall 2 was particularly celebrated for its single-player campaign.

Every Star Wars Game (2024 & Beyond)
Now that EA isn't the sole proprietor of Star Wars games, there are plenty of titles in development for fans to look forward to in 2024 and beyond.
Star Wars Game Reportedly Follows Mandalorian Bounty Hunter
A Mandalorian-focused Star Wars game has been rumored for a while, and there has simultaneously been tumultuous reports on Respawn regarding one of the studio's undisclosed projects. Though the game previously lost its creative director, Mohammad Alavi, the project was not canceled, according to Venture Beat. From those early rumors, the new Mandalorian bounty hunter game will have a focus on mobility and style, heavily utilizing the jetpack made iconic by Boba and Jango Fett. Insider Gaming's sources indicate the game is expected to be "very fast-paced" and will reward players with health regeneration "based on successive kills."
Respawn Entertainment itself feels like an obvious choice to tackle such a project. The two Star Wars Jedi games have been well-received, and the studio has extensive experience in the first-person shooter genre. Respawn was initially founded by ex-Call of Duty developers, and in addition to the Titanfall series, has found tremendous success with Apex Legends, an ongoing battle royale that launched in 2019. The Mandalorian game will seemingly "not be an open world and have linear levels taking place on a variety of different planets in the Star Wars universe," which will perhaps allow the studio to flex its ingenious level design on display in Titanfall 2's single-player campaign.
Setting this Mandalorian game at the height of the Galactic Empire's power seems to indicate that it will take place amid the Galactic Civil War – Star Wars' most famous conflict between the Empire and Rebel Alliance depicted in the original films. This suggests that it will be something of a prequel to The Mandalorian, and may expand on the culture at large, though Din Djarin's involvement in the game's story has not been confirmed in any way. With this latest Star Wars game in "early stages of development," it will likely be years before it is released, but it's certainly an exciting new project for fans.
