Samuel L. Jackson thoroughly believes his Stars Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

Not only did he get his wish, but Lucas cast him as Jedi Master Mace Windu in Episode I and its two follow-ups. While the character was basically a cameo in The Phantom Menace, Windu got more to do in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones, including beheading bounty hunter Jango Fett in the finale. He even got his wish for a purple lightsaber, which he wanted primarily so he could spot himself during the hectic end battle.

Mace Windu - alongside most of the Jedi order - met a bleak end in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith. After discovering Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is Sith Lord Darth Sidious, he moved in to arrest him. This led to an intense battle where Windu emerged the victor. Sadly for the Jedi Master, Anakin Skywalker - who had been manipulated by Palpatine - intervened and severed his arm, leading to Palpatine hitting him with force lightning and sending him out a window to his presumed demise. Over the years though, Samuel L. Jackson has voiced his opinion that Mace Windu is still alive somewhere in the galaxy.

In 2016 he took to Twitter to state that Jedi can easily survive falling from great heights and that there's a well-established history of one-armed Jedi characters. He went further during a chat with Episode III and moved to a distant planet to hide out like Yoda or Obi-Wan. Jackson also stated George Lucas has signed off on his theory but Windu didn't return for the recent sequel trilogy.

Samuel L. Jackson did briefly return as Mace Windu for 2019's Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. He voiced the character during the final battle where Rey hears the voices of many past Jedi, including Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. This would seem to go against Jackson's theory of Windu surviving, however, since Rey is hearing from Force Ghosts, suggesting the Jedi Master is quite dead. Considering Star Wars found a way to bring back Palpatine himself for the most recent entry, however, death doesn't have to block Mace Windu from a future return.
