Star Wars' best characters, and throughout her appearances in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (and in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, for that matter), she proved how fierce, intelligent, and strong she really was. Sadly, that came to an end in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith with Pé's death, but that hasn't stopped audiences from wanting Portman's return—and she may have the perfect way to do it.
During an interview with the UK's The One Show, Natalie Portman explained that, if Pé were to return, she'd want her to come back "With a lightsaber. I think she'd have to be a Jedi. Somehow, she was brought back from the dead; that would be exciting." While that seems unlikely to really happen, it's such a fun idea, and it's thrilling to know that Natalie Portman would be open to returning as Pé Amidala in Star Wars.
Is It Time For "Somehow, Pé Returned?"
This Would Be Particularly Difficult To Pull Off
While this is a thrilling concept, it would be particularly difficult for Star Wars to pull off Pé's resurrection in the way that Natalie Portman describes. For one, Pé wasn't Force-sensitive, so she has no way to become a Force Ghost or access some of the other means of resurrection exhibited by Force-sensitive characters, such as with Asajj Ventress' resurrection and return, which was just depicted in Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld. Particularly with her wanting to come back as a Jedi, this would require some complex storytelling that isn't likely to land well with audiences.
After all, there's still plenty of bad blood within the fanbase following the very controversial decision to resurrect Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This is also just one of many examples of bewildering resurrections in Star Wars movies and TV shows, Boba Fett and Darth Maul also among them. Even so, it's plenty of fun to think about how this could be done with Pé in a way that might be a bit easier to swallow.

19 Years After Revenge Of The Sith, I'm Still Convinced Pe's Death Was A Big Mistake
While Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is an excellent movie, the manner of Pe's death was nevertheless a major mistake in Star Wars.
Our Take On Natalie Portman & The Future Of Star Wars
We Would Love To See Natalie Portman's Return
While she may not be coming back as a Jedi, I would be thrilled to see Natalie Portman return as Pé Amidala in Star Wars. The story she describes would almost certainly have to be done in a non-canon show, although Star Wars has typically opted for those to be animated, such as with LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy and Star Wars: Visions. Given this would be Portman's return, it would presumably be preferable for it to be in live-action. I have my own ideas for a perfect return for Natalie Portman in live-action, though.
Like many in the Star Wars fanbase, I remain hopeful that we will get a live-action Darth Vader show starring Hayden Christensen, and that would be the perfect way for Portman to return without requiring a massive retcon or potentially canon-breaking story. We know from the comics that Vader attempted to resurrect Pé, and that story, in addition to Vader being haunted by visions of Pé and what he'd done to her, would be absolutely brilliant. We may not see Natalie Portman return as Pé Amidala in Star Wars, but I sincerely hope we do.
