Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may have perfectly set up Cal Kestis' new Jedi Order. Cal's goal has always been to restart some form of Jedi Order, and although his views change as he develops as a Jedi himself over the course of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, he still seems keen to develop some kind of safe haven to train the next generation alongside his allies by the end of the latter game's story.

[Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor]The entire plot of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order surrounded Cal and the Stinger Mantis crew's search for a holocron containing the identity of many Force-sensitive children. While the intention was initially to find and train them to restart the Jedi Order, by the end of the game's story, Cal destroyed the Holocron to protect them from the Empire, instead trusting in the Force to guide them to him of their own free will should they chose to seek the path of a Jedi. Over the course of Jedi: Survivor, Cal starts to build and acquire elements that could allow him to start this new Jedi Order when the time is right.

Cal Has Access To The Jedi Survivors Of Order 66 Through The Hidden Path

Jedi Survivor's Cal Kestis faces the camera with BD-1 on his back in front of the Hidden Path from the Obi-Wan Kenobi show

A common critique of Star Wars since it came under Disney's control is that it's revealed that many more Jedi survived Order 66 than audiences previously believed, particularly via its Disney+ shows. Some felt that while this choice did allow a wealth more stories from the era between the prequels and original trilogy, it undid the dark ending of Revenge of the Sith, and creates story problems with the absence of these Jedi in both the original and sequel trilogies. Despite this, the appearance of so many known Jedi around the time Jedi: Survivor's story takes place means that Cal has the potential to form a decently-sized new Jedi Order with some major cameos from the prequels and shows.

Nearly a decade on from the Great Jedi Purge of Revenge of the Sith, and five years later the events of Fallen Order, Cal's working with the Hidden Path as the Empire's rule grows stronger across the galaxy. As stated by Tala Durith to Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the Hidden Path has safehouses throughout the galaxy that link the various systems, and through the Path's work, they have helped many Jedi who survived Order 66 by granting them new identities and resources to stay hidden from the Empire. With the Path's resources, Cal potentially has access to all of these hidden Jedi should he choose to reach out to build his new Jedi Order in the Star Wars galaxy.

Star Wars' Cal Kestis May Already Have His Own Jedi Padawan

Cal, Merrin, BD-1 and Greez welcome Kata onto the Stinger Mantis crew at the end of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

At the end of Jedi: Survivor, Cal is instructed by his mentor and fellow Stinger Mantis crew member Cere Junda through the Force to "guide [Kata Akuna] through the darkness" following her father Bode's death. Bode was revealed to be a former Jedi who made a deal with the Imperial Security Bureau and became an Imperial spy in order to protect his daughter after losing his wife Tayala and being on the run from the Imperial Inquisitors for years. Upon his betrayal of the Stinger Mantis crew, and the realization that he was so consumed with rage and desperation that he wouldn't take Cal's pleas to surrender and let the Stinger Mantis crew protect him and Kata, Bode was eventually defeated by Cal and Merrin.

With Kata being the daughter of a Jedi, there's a strong likelihood that she could be Force-sensitive, and with her ing the Stinger Mantis crew and hanging out at Pili Pyloon’s Saloon’s roof garden after the game's ending, this positions her to have a larger role in a future Star Wars title. If so, this sets up the possibility of Cal having to train his own Padawan in the sequel. Players have experienced Cal as a Jedi Padawan in Jedi: Fallen Order, and a fully-fledged Jedi Knight in Jedi: Survivor, so in of his character progression, it would make sense to see him in a wiser, mentor-type role in a future game.

Although Kata witnessed her father's misdeeds first-hand, it's possible that she may struggle with the allure of the dark side given this childhood trauma. Merrin seemed to pick up on this at the end of Jedi: Survivor, and offered words of wisdom based on her own trauma to Kata in the moments after Bode's death, it's possible that she could also mentor the young Padawan alongside Cal, who also experienced childhood trauma and understands the power of the dark side, and could enhance her lessons with the inclusion of the Nightsisters' Magick abilities.

Cal's New Jedi Order Already Has Its Own Temple Base

By the end of Jedi: Survivor, Cal and the Stinger Mantis crew have acquired an ancient Jedi temple on Tanalorr, a planet hidden by the Koboh Abyss. After leading the Imperial Inquisitors to the Hidden Path safehouse on Jedha, Bode stole the Abyss com required to safely navigate to Tanalorr, but upon his defeat, this is now safely in the hands of Cal and Merrin, making the temple a safe haven the Empire can't access. During Jedi: Survivor's story, Cal and Merrin express an interest in using Tanalorr as a safe haven for the Hidden Path, and Cal mentions it being a place where he could foster a new order of Jedi going forward.

Cal's New Jedi Order Will Follow Its Own Path In Star Wars' Universe

Cal and Merrin kiss in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

A huge theme throughout both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor was Cal carving his own path as a Jedi. With Cal being a Padawan when the old Jedi Order fell, he has experienced its failings first-hand. Over the years of fighting the Empire, and through the development of his relationships with the Stinger Mantis crew - Merrin in particular - he has begun to build his own idea of what a future Jedi order in Star Wars could hold, and it could be vastly different from what came before.

Through his relationship with Merrin, Cal has already made a major step away from the old Jedi Order's ways by eschewing their "no personal attachments" rule. Over the course of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's story, Cal and Merrin's romance developed, with them both confessing their feelings toward each other toward the end of the game. At this moment, Cal stated that the Order wasn't right about everything, and that "it's time to leave it behind". This line alone explicitly states that in Cal's mind the ways of the old Jedi Order are gone, giving him the opportunity to build something completely new.
