The future of the Star Wars saga is soon to arrive, with a brand-new trilogy by Simon Kinberg said to be in the works at Lucasfilm. There are already plenty of Rey's New Jedi Order movie. These films, however, are far from the only ones that Star Wars is seeking to create. Now, nearly five years after the conclusion of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Lucasfilm is ready to pursue yet another movie trilogy.
Deadline has reported that a brand-new Star Wars trilogy is moving forward, with Kinberg, known in Star Wars for his work on the animated series Star Wars Rebels, set to write and produce. It ought to be noted, however, that there are conflicting opinions about what exactly this trilogy is covering; some insiders say this will continue the Star Wars saga and will be Episodes 10-12, while others insist that this will be the beginning of a new saga in a way that's similar to other standalone movies. Either way, it seems Star Wars is ready for more.
What The New Episodes 10-12 Would Mean For Star Wars
Continuing George Lucas' Earliest Vision
Should Star Wars truly be seeking to do a continuation of the episodic saga with this new trilogy, then the franchise would truly be entering a brand-new era, one that is truly fulfilling the original vision George Lucas had. George Lucas' original plans for Episodes 10-12, or X-XII, are not very well-known, but they were certainly a part of what he originally set out to do before he realized just how difficult that end goal would be to achieve. Now, nearly fifty years later, Star Wars is certainly in a place where it can continue this vision.
Our Take On The New Star Wars Trilogy
It Truly Ought To Be Episodes 10-12
Hopefully, it's true that this new trilogy will indeed be Star Wars Episodes 10-12, if only due to the fact that there are already so many other spin-off movies being pursued. With Rey having taken on the Skywalker name, it stands to reason that the Skywalker saga could in fact continue - but even if that was pivoted somehow, the episodic saga could still go on. The Skywalkers' influence on these characters lives on even if they themselves don't, and there is so much rich potential to pursue in a brand-new trilogy.

Though Star Wars itself has yet to confirm this report, it seems very promising, and it opens up a big future for the franchise that truly takes things to the next level. After an extended era of television, championed by The Mandalorian, audiences are yet again ready to continue the Star Wars story on the big screen. Pursuing a brand-new episodic trilogy would give Star Wars another shot at achieving something very special, and no doubt thrilling. This is an exciting glimpse at what's to come for the Star Wars franchise, particularly when it comes to the big screen.
