The movies may stand out, but in the world of enjoy between seasons of The Mandalorian. There is a constant stream of novels and comic books being released, and with them, comes a wealth of fascinating characters that have yet to be explored on screen.
The Skywalker Saga and the animated series The Clone Wars have recently ended, but with the success of The Mandalorian, DisneyPlus has plans for even more creative endeavors for the streaming service. Who should be next? Let's take a look at a list of 10 amazing characters that have been featured in the novels and the comics, but have yet to hit the big screen.
Eli Vanto
It's tempting to think of anyone who works for the Empire as a villain, but the Thrawn series throws a wrench into that line of thinking with a wide array of oddly noble characters. Eli Vanto grew up stereotyped as dumb and incapable due to his humble upbringing and Wild Space accent, but he proves himself to be kindhearted and highly intelligent.
He recognizes the Imperial leanings towards xenophobia and racism and stands against it. He served in the Imperial Navy as assistant, advisor, translator, and friend to Grand iral Thrawn, and later, takes up a position with the Chiss Ascendancy.
Rae Sloane
Grand iral Rae Sloane is an ambitious Naval officer loyal to the Galactic Empire, and she is not to be trifled with. She knows Brendol Hux, whom she considered "big, blustering, ego-fed pig". She takes it upon herself to watch over his son, Armitage when she suspects that the Imperial officer is physically and emotionally abusing him.
Kes Dameron
Poe Dameron is a beloved character introduced in The Force Awakens, but his parents deserve just as much screen time as their cocky but lovable son. Kes Dameron was a sergeant in the Rebel Alliance, and fought with Han Solo in the Pathfinders program - a Rebel special forces unit, often used as a strike team during battle.
Family-focused and driven by his love for his wife and his son, Kes retires from the Alliance shortly after the Battle of Endor to make a life for them on Yavin 4. Though his wife, Shara, es away when Poe is only 8-years-old, single father Kes raises him to become the strong man and hero that he is.
Vi Moradi
One of the most obvious ideas for a Disney cash grab would be to have a series that features Resistance spy, Vi Moradi. She was introduced in Phasma by Delilah S. Dawson when she was captured and interrogated by both Captain Phasma, and another captain named Cardinal.
Vi Moradi is the perfect mix between fearless and adorable, with her strong belief in the Resistance juxtaposed by her determined fixation on her knitting hobby. Even more important, Vi Moradi is a part of the new Disney attraction, Galaxy's Edge. Dawson's 2019 novel, Black Spire, focuses on Moradi's mission to Batuu, the planet made up specifically for the attraction.
Norra Wexley
Poe isn't the only character who comes from a lineage of Rebel parents. Temmin "Snap" Wexley is Poe Dameron's friend and a member of the Resistance. His mother, Norra Wexley, is also featured prominently in the novel, Star Wars: Resistance Reborn.
Norra is headstrong, stubborn, a little bit grumpy, but almost always right. She is an ex-Rebel pilot who has retired to a quiet life with her husband, Wedge Antilles. She claims that her decision to the Rebel Alliance while her son was a child was "made less in her head and more in her gut." It was just right. Norra is exactly the type of strong, capable woman that fans love to see.
Brendol Hux
Brendol Hux is a ruthless officer of the Galactic Empire, and father to illegitimate son, Armitage Hux (who would later become General of the First Order). Brendol is cruel, arrogant, and prone to injecting his unwanted opinions into conversations. He regularly abused Armitage as a child.
Brendol was stationed at the Imperial Academy on Arkanis, training soldiers. His strict belief in natural selection dictated how he trained soldiers, as well as how he raised Armitage. Many of his "trainees" were orphans, whom he taught to be assassins and guards. Fans have speculated that Domhnall Gleeson's father, Brendan Gleeson, would make an excellent elder Hux.
Ciena Ree
“We keep telling each other good-bye. When am I finally going to believe it?” Lost Stars by Claudia Gray is a Romeo and Juliet-like story that centers around childhood friends who once dreamed of ships and flying together until one of them s the Empire, and one leaves to fight for the Rebel Alliance.
Ciena Ree is a talented Imperial pilot and was mentored in part by Wilhuff Tarkin. She is guided by the principles of loyalty and oath keeping, things she learned as a child on the outer rim planet, Jelucan. Despite recognizing problems in the Empire, her values keep her from breaking her oath.
Cardinal
Also known as Archex or CD-0922, Cardinal is Brendol Hux's former personal guard and a captain in charge of stormtrooper physical training. Born on Jakku, he was handpicked and trained by Brendol as a teenager and has felt undying loyalty for him since then.
He is comfortable in his role as "favorite" for years until Brendol arrives back from Parnassos with his replacement - Phasma. Cardinal is initially jealous and suspicious of her, but during his interrogation of Vi Moradi, finds that she may very well be responsible for Brendol's untimely demise.
Shara Bey
A decorated war veteran and expert pilot for the Rebel Alliance, Lieutenant Shara Bey is a force to be reckoned with and would be an asset to any Star Wars film or series. She once served as a personal pilot to Princess Leia Organa and remained friends with her even after the Galactic Civil War.
Even in times of war, Shara believed that the galaxy was inherently good, it only needed some change. Upon her and Kes's retirement from the Rebellion, she received an A-Wing Interceptor, and eventually, she used this ship to teach Poe how to fly when he was only 6-years-old.
Suralinda Javos
Suralinda Javos is featured in a few issues of the Poe Dameron comics, as well as Star Wars: Resistance Reborn. Originally a pilot in the Republic Navy, she served alongside Poe Dameron but had a true calling - journalism. She left the Navy and went to work for The Galaxy Beacon.
Suralinda has the 3 key S's - sassy, sneaky, and smart. She knows how to get the scoop for her next big story, and silly morals don't stop her from going after it. She is a skilled manipulator, and attempts to trick Poe into giving her Resistance intel that she can use in a story, but ends up ing their cause instead. Though it takes time to gain their trust, she earns her place in Black Squadron.
