I enjoyed the Star Wars movies and TV shows because it felt entirely unexpected. Star Wars seemed to be moving on from the Skywalker Saga and the prequel trilogy, making it seem rather unlikely that characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker would be explored in any real detail again on the screen.
This was also a truly exciting point in the Star Wars timeline, as we got to see what Obi-Wan's life (and even the Empire) looked like 10 years after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. By all s, then, Obi-Wan Kenobi should have been a slam dunk. Unfortunately, one surprising and disappointing issue with Obi-Wan Kenobi significantly hampered the success of the show.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show's Lighting Was Such A Massive Problem
At Some Points, It Was Genuinely Difficult To See What Was Going On
As noted by Cobalt, the lighting in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show was a massive problem. Although it made sense at certain points for scenes to be taking place in the dark, such as when Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader have their massive face-off at the end, at times, scenes in Obi-Wan Kenobi were so dark it was difficult to even see what was going on. In fact, this was true even for that fight sequence; at some points, all that could really be seen was the glow of Obi-Wan and Vader's lightsabers and Vader's chest plate.
At times, scenes in Obi-Wan Kenobi were so dark it was difficult to even see what was going on.
This could arguably be fine for a shot or two, as the far-off glows seemed cool at first, but when it was consistently too dark to completely make out what was going on, it became frustrating. What's worse, this was true even in scenes when there was no clear visual reason for it. For example, when Obi-Wan Kenobi finds Jedi Quinlan Vos' name carved into the wall of a Rebel hideout, it seemingly confirms Vos is working with the Hidden Path. Viewers have to be really looking to see the name, though, as the scene is so dark.

Wait, I Think Star Wars Has Just Confirmed Asajj Ventress Was Part Of Obi-Wan Kenobi's "Jedi Path"
After Star Wars' announcement that a new TV show, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, is coming, I'm convinced Asajj Ventress is part of this Path.
What Went Wrong With Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Timing May Have Been An Issue Here
Unfortunately, this frustrating lighting issue in Obi-Wan Kenobi may actually have to do with Star Wars' scheduling difficulties. A common trick among VFX companies is to use dimmer lighting if they haven't had adequate time to get the CGI quite right. Were that the case, it would suggest that Disney Star Wars simply moved too quickly trying to get Obi-Wan Kenobi pushed out.
While that's speculative, it sadly wouldn't be the first time a Star Wars show suffered because of a rushed timeline. Many suspect that the disappointing plot in The Book of Boba Fett was due to the deadline that Disney Star Wars had set for itself and then had to rush to meet. Hopefully, Star Wars has learned from this mistake and will adjust moving forward because, as much as I enjoyed Obi-Wan Kenobi, I was beyond frustrated with the lighting problems.
