One of the best parts about Star Wars Outlaws is Kay’s friend, Nix, who is your animal companion throughout the game. However, there are quests that ask you to make Nix happy in order to unlock an ability. The game is not super clear on how to do this, but there are several ways that work better than others.
Players will have a lot of planets in Star Wars Outlaws to explore, and Nix will be at your side for all of them. He’s a very good companion to have, and he has a lot of abilities to help Kay out of tight situations. To return all his help to you, players will want to know how they can make him happy in return.

Star Wars Outlaws Review: Dazzling Hives Of Scum & Villainy
Star Wars Outlaws focuses on a grimier, seedier side of the universe with a rich, detailed open world that features both new and legacy characters.
How To Make Nix Happy
Pets & Chaos
There are a fair number of possibilities to make Nix happy in Star Wars Outlaws, but there does not seem to be a definitive list, as players have had different amounts of success with different methods. However, various actions will make him happier than others, and some things will definitely make him unhappy. Here are a list of things that are known to make him happy:
More ways to make him happy might become known in the future, so don't be afraid to try other things that it seems like he might like!
- Pets: If you take the time to occasionally give Nix good pets, he will appreciate you for it.
- Grappling Hook: He enjoys a nice swing on the Grappling Hook to give him a thrill.
- Triggering Bombs: Asking him to distract enemies with a smoke bomb or detonating a more explosive bomb will make him extremely happy. He thrives on chaos.
- Speed Boost: Getting a Speed Boost on your Speeder will let him fly out behind you and give him a joyous thrill.
- Galactic Street Food: If you find a vendor and complete the mini-game, Nix will be happy.
That’s all that is known for now, but you will need to know these things to unlock the Treasure Hunter ability. You will not, however, want to make Nix unhappy. There are a couple of things you will want to avoid doing:
- Petting other animals while Nix is closeby. He’s very jealous.
- Agreeing to sell him for meat. Don’t be that guy.
How To Unlock The Treasure Hunter Ability
Nix, Chests, and Fetch
To unlock the Treasure Hunter Ability, you must meet Selo Rovak, which you can do after finishing a second quest for Danka called “New Tricks.” She will then give you tips about s, and you will eventually meet up with Selo Rovak, a mechanic on Toshara who can give you the “Boost” upgrade for your Speeder.
This allows you to start unlocking new abilities from her as well by completing challenges. This one will require you to do three things:
- Make Nix happy in four different ways
- Find 10 chests of any variety (you may have to use the lockpicking ability in Star Wars Outlaws)
- Fetch any item using Nix
Making Nix happy is definitely the part that players are having a harder time with, but with this information, you should have all you need to make Nix happy four separate times in Star Wars Outlaws.
