For The Clone Wars, they got rewarded with a fourth season that had some unbelievable episodes and moments.
It felt like Dave Filoni had gotten to complete his vision, something he had not yet gotten for The Clone Wars, and his storytelling genius shined through. The season was not consistently perfect in every episode, some were subpar filler, but the highs of the season did nothing short of blow fan's minds.
Worst - "In The Name Of The Rebellion: Part 1" (7.9)
"In The Name Of The Rebellion" is a two-part episode which sees Saw Gerrera returns to the screen, and introduces the other half of the Ghost crew to Yavin 4 and the wider rebellion.
The episode sees Specter cell sent on a mission-based off the intel of Saw, who divides opinions for his extreme measures, with Ezra frustrated with not helping Lothal, others frustrated by either how the rebels are following Saw, or not following him enough.
Best - "Wolves & A Door" (8.6)
"Wolves & The Door" is a great episode that leads audiences and the characters into one of the most unique, genius, and brilliant pieces of Star Wars content, ever.
It follows Ezra and Sabine go to the Jedi Temple on Lothal, which has fallen under the control of the Empire who have awful plans for it and has the pair trying to figure out how to get inside.
Worst - "The Occupation" (7.7)
"The Occupation" is a solid enough episode, but nothing massively memorable, especially compared to other episodes in the season. It pretty much follows the namesake of the episode.
After having a Force vision, Ezra pleads with the crew to go back to Lothal and help his people. After finally getting the green light to go, the team gets there only to see that the Imperial occupation has gotten so much worse. It ends with the crew stuck on the planet, with a small band of rebels ready to fight against Thrawn and the Empire.
Best - "Fools Hope" (8.8)
"A Fool's Hope" is a brilliantly crafted episode with twists and turns, and the core Star Wars theme of hope at its core, as well as the classic story of a group of ragtag underdogs.
It sees the Ghost crew call in every favor they have to fight against Pryce and her forces. When it seems as though Ryder has betrayed the rebels and given Pryce their location, it turns out it was all the plan of the rebels, getting them a vital victory leading into the series finale.
Worst - "Heroes Of Mandalore: Part 1" (7.7)
"Heroes Of Mandalore" kicks off the fourth and final season of the show with a two-part, Mandalorian centric story that is perhaps undeservedly stuck in the worst pile on IMDb.
The episode sees the rebels work with Sabine and the Mandalorians, specifically Clan Wren, to free Sabine's father from the Empire, but Sabine's past with the Empire comes back in a big, haunting way.
Best - "Jedi Night" (9.4)
"Jedi Night" is one of the most brilliant, yet painful episodes of Rebels, as the Ghost crew set out to rescue Hera from the grasps of Thrawn and the Empire.
As the crew infiltrates the Imperial headquarters on Lothal, fans see a new Kanan with a new look and a lot of intent. The ending with him saving Hera and the Ghost crew and having momentary retention of sight before getting engulfed in flame - via Pryce blowing up the tower - is heartbreaking, with the rest of the family's reaction making it much more so.
Worst - "Heroes Of Mandalore: Part 2" (7.6)
The second part of the "Heroes Of Mandalore" story continues from what gets set up in part one, specifically with Sabine and her past with the Empire.
It turns out that the deadly weapon used by the Empire on the Mandalorians was initially designed by Sabine, resulting in her ridicule by fellow Mandalorians. In the end, though, she turns it back on Saxon and ensures it will not get used on her people. A great moment happens in the end when Sabine hands off the Darksaber to Bo-Katan, the leader Mandalore needs.
Best - "Family Reunion - And Farewell" (9.4)
"Family Reunion - And Farewell" is the ending of Rebels overall and is a brilliant and emotional ride for all the characters involved as the rebels finally liberate Lothal.
In the end, Ezra pretty much sacrifices himself for Lothal, using the Purrgil's to take him and Thrawn somewhere mysterious and unknown in space. Fans get to see what happens to each character by the end of the Galactic Civil War, before the reveal that Ahsoka and Sabine set off to find Ezra. It is a wonderful finale, and fans are desperate to see what comes next for the characters in the canon.
Worst - "Crawler Comandeers" (7.1)
When it comes to the more mediocre episodes of Rebels, the two common criticisms of them are that either they do not feature enough characters properly to make it better, or, worse, they do nothing to further the story, like this episode.
It follows the rebels as they commandeer a mining vehicle, an Ore Crawler with long-range communication capabilities, something they very much need, with complications arising with Vizago as a slaver, and the Empire interfering.
Best - "A World Between Worlds" (9.5)
"A World Between Worlds" is undoubtedly one of the most unique pieces of Star Wars content out there, and despite the complicated aspects to it, specifically manipulating time, it is handled wonderfully by Filoni and the team.
It sees Ezra find a way inside the Jedi Temple, discovering a mysterious place with various portals. Morai sits atop one in which Ezra finds Ahsoka and Vader battling from "Twilight Of The Apprentice," and without thinking, he pulls her out. As the two try and figure out what is going on, the Emperor appears in a portal and attempts to infiltrate the World between Worlds. After Ahsoka goes back to her timeline, and Ezra escapes, he causes the Temple to collapse, scrapping the Emperor's plans. It is nothing short of incredible.
