A set of Star Wars TV shows like Andor season 2, with other stories also planning to be set in this same era.

One such set of stories has been outlined by io9, with a trilogy of novels set to explore the earliest days of the Galactic Empire. These novels, collectively titled Reign of the Empire, will detail the rise of the resistance against the Empire from the perspectives of some familiar Star Wars characters. These characters will include Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Bail Organa. Check out the logline of the first book, Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, below.

"With one speech, and thunderous applause, Chancellor Palpatine brought the era of the Republic crashing down. In its place rose the Galactic Empire. Across the galaxy, people rejoiced and celebrated the end to war—and the promises of tomorrow. But that tomorrow was a lie. Instead the galaxy became twisted by the cruelty and fear of the Emperor’s rule.

During that terrifying first year of tyranny, Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Bail Organa face the encroaching darkness. One day, they will be three architects of the Rebel Alliance. But first, each must find purpose and direction in a changing galaxy, while harboring their own secrets, fears, and hopes for a future that may never come, unless they act."

One of the details revealed about the Reign of the Empire series is that it will begin almost immediately after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. This places it alongside Star Wars stories like Star Wars: The Bad Batch, only instead, Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear will likely delve into the onset of the Empire with a much stronger political focus. The book will explore the early days of the Empire's reign from the eyes of the eventual architects of its downfall.

The Reign of the Empire is expected to detail each of these feelings as the Rebel Alliance attempts to wrestle the galaxy from Imperial control...

As such, it makes sense to place the first book in the series after Revenge of the Sith. As is known from other Star Wars stories, the Rebel Alliance did not simply spawn out of nowhere a decade after Episode III. It was built on years of anger, resentment, distrust, and tyranny on the Empire's part. As Star Wars' new book series, The Reign of the Empire is expected to detail each of these feelings as the Rebel Alliance attempts to wrestle the galaxy from Imperial control.
