While there seems to have been a collective effort to review bomb the High Republic Era. While many were excited for the show, there was also an overwhelming amount of negativity and backlash online, even before the show premiered. However, the fans have spoken, and it seems they want season 2.

Now, Star Wars audiences have ed her, causing #RenewTheAcolyte to trend on social media. Many posts have specifically referred to the strengths of the show and what it has brought to the franchise.
Others have pointed out what a beautiful job Amandla Stenberg has done playing both Osha and Mae.
Of course, many have also highlighted Manny Jacinto's Qimir and the apparent budding romance between Osha and Qimir as the reason they want more of the show.

No Decision Has Yet Been Made On The Acolyte Season 2
To the dismay of those who have come to love the show, Star Wars has yet to confirm whether The Acolyte will be picked up for a second season, and it really isn't certain whether it will. Limited series runs can be very difficult to predict, especially ones that have gotten such mixed reviews from audiences. Moreover, Star Wars has plenty of history with canceling shows and movies, even ones that seem very popular with audiences, such as Rogue Squadron.

Despite that, there does seem to be a tremendous amount of story left to tell in The Acolyte with just one episode left. Although The Acolyte episode 7 may have addressed major mysteries, such as what really happened on Brendok, numerous significant questions remain. Osha is still trapped on the Unknown Planet with Qimir, seemingly drawn to both Qimir and the dark side of the Force. Mae remains with Master Sol and has just learned what really happened to her coven. Even Vernestra Rwoh likely must now face the Republic Senate because of what has transpired.
That's a lot of ground to cover in an episode that isn't likely to be longer than 45 minutes, especially if it's intended to not only tie up those storylines but also conclude the entire show. In part, this seems done by design. It's no secret that Headland hopes the show will be picked up for another season (or more). In interviews, she frequently makes reference to what she could have done had she had more than eight episodes. Leaving audiences on the edge of their seats and wanting more is one smart way to secure that future.
However, Headland did say early on that, whether it was renewed, The Acolyte would feel like a complete story. How the show will accomplish that clearly remains to be seen, but the show has pulled off a number of shocking surprises, and sticking the landing while tying up all loose ends in under an hour could be another one. In the meantime, Star Wars audiences are certainly letting it be known on social media that they want to see The Acolyte renewed for a second season.
