Nevertheless, in The Rise of Skywalker, it was clear that the Skywalker family themselves gave their seal of approval, as both Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker appeared as Force ghosts smiling down upon Rey. Early in Rebuild the Galaxy, the show's protagonist, Sig Greebling, recounts the story of the Star Wars timeline, from the prequel trilogy to the sequel trilogy. However, when he introduces Rey in the story, he calls her last name into question. In a dubious tone, he says, "Rey, who is... kind of a Skywalker." Rebuild the Galaxy didn't shy away from taking small, playful jabs at Star Wars, the sequel trilogy in particular; however, this still came as a shock.

Will In-Universe Characters Accept Rey As A Skywalker?
Notably, Rebuild the Galaxy is not canon. However, Rey's Star Wars movie, rumored to be titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, will be, and it will almost certainly need to address Rey's identity as a Skywalker. This will prove interesting, as the Skywalker Saga was meant to end with The Rise of Skywalker. It remains to be seen how exactly these two concepts—the Skywalker Saga being over and Rey being a Skywalker—can co-exist.
Now, though, Rebuild the Galaxy calls into question whether in-universe characters will truly embrace Rey as a Skywalker. After all, the Skywalkers, Luke in particular, are incredibly famous in the galaxy. Will other characters accept that Rey is now a Skywalker, especially if her biological link to Palpatine is discovered, or, like Sig, will they doubt her status as a true Skywalker? Only New Jedi Order can answer that, but LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy has reinforced that Rey Skywalker's name remains a controversy in the franchise.
