Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it has been met with a lot of criticism for its story, pace, and certain moments that weren’t as exciting or relevant as it was teased.

Disney’s Star Wars sequels left a lot of unsolved material for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to pick up, and although it didn’t succeed in solving all of them (let alone give a satisfying explanation and solution), it did explain more about the First Order and how they were such a powerful menace.

The First Order Stole A Lot Of Children To Be Stormtroopers

Jannah – both stormtroopers who escaped – that the First Order kidnapped children from various worlds conquered by them in order to train them and turn them into their soldiers. Many of them were trained from birth to become an army of loyal soldiers to the Supreme Leader, which is why several from the Order had high ranks despite being so young. Some of the children taken by the First Order came from impoverished Outer Rim worlds, and in many cases their families happily surrendered their children as they couldn’t them anymore. The First Order’s stormtroopers are seen taking children away from their families in Kijimi, which shows that they were constantly stealing recruits, thus expanding their troops.

The First Order Is Bigger Than Starkiller and Snoke

The First Order, very much like the Sith, had their own superweapon: Supreme Leader Snoke, were enough to make the First Order a powerful menace, but there was a lot more behind it. The Order had various leaders, not just Snoke – case in point, the Starkiller Base was led by General Hux, Kylo Ren, and Captain Phasma. In addition to that, Kylo Ren was also the master of the Knights of Ren, an order of elite warriors that follow the dark side of the Force and are d to the First Order.

And, of course, there’s Palpatine, the mind behind it all. During the rise of the First Order, the original founders were sidelined by Palpatine/Darth Sidious as part of his plan to reclaim the galaxy, and later made Snoke the Supreme Leader. The First Order was much more powerful than Star Wars: The Last Jedi showed, but not even Starkiller Base and multiple leaders could stop the Resistance's efforts, which eventually destroyed them, finally bringing balance to the galaxy.
