Lando Calrissian isn't so much the biggest ladies' man of the galaxy as he is the biggest everyone and everything's man of the galaxy. One of the writers of Solo: A Star Wars Story has confirmed that Lando has a very fluid sexuality. The future of Cloud City would probably identify as pansexual.

The Star Wars franchise has always been rather sexless. There's romance, definitely, but very few moments of it have been of a sexual natural. Even Leia and Han, which is probably the steamiest interaction of the Star Wars saga, never progress beyond lip-locking. Lando Calrissian, though, has always been an exception. From his first appearance in Empire Strikes Back, Lando has exuded a swaggering charm. He was the first real representation for people of color in the franchise (and for a while the only one). Now, his sexuality also brings diversity to a galaxy far, far away.

his new droid L3 and himself. The teasing of Han can also be interpreted as flirting. Kasdan didn't mince words, revealing all of that was very intentional. Kasadan said that believes Lando is pansexual. The writer went on to elaborate, saying:

There’s a fluidity to Donald and Billy Dee’s [portrayal of Lando’s] sexuality. I mean, I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie. I think it’s time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity ― sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to and that droids are a part of. He doesn’t make any hard and fast rules. I think it’s fun.

It's pretty clear from Kasdan's comments that there's nothing too obvious in the movie concerning Lando's sexuality. It seems to be more implied than anything blatant. This is probably the right way to go because, as previously mentioned, the series has never been too sexualized. There's nothing strange about Lando flirting with everyone, but if it was taken to to its next obvious (physical) level it would feel a little off place in a Star Wars movie. The franchise has always been very sterile and family-friendly.

While some fans might rebel at the idea of Lando being pansexual, especially since he very aggressively pursued Leia in Empire Strikes Back, the "reveal" does fit his character. Lando is a very free and open figure. The world of Star Wars has so many aliens and creatures that defy normal gender conventions. (There's nothing that suggests droids are one gender or another, besides their voices.) Naturally a character as free wheeling as Lando would be open to nearly any kind of romantic encounter.

Plus, if anyone is going to confirm something about Lando's personal life, Kasdan is a very good person to do it. Kasdan didn't just co-write Solo: A Star Wars Story. He's also the son of Lawrence Kasdan who wrote Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Lawrence Kasdan was an integral part in creating the character of Lando. Lawrence Kasdan was also the other co-writer of Solo: A Star Wars Story. If there are any lines of dialogue in the movie that suggest Lando might be down for anything, they're directly from Lawrence or Jonathan Kasdan, both of whom should have a very good understanding of the character.

Whether more of Lando's sexuality makes it into his own reported spinoff, or even another Solo movie, remains to be seen. But, it likely won't happen. It'll just stay as an unspoken part of the character, maybe being referenced in one of the new Expanded Universe novels or comics. Yet for anyone looking for pansexual representation in a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian has got them covered in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
