Players can glide around Star Wars: Squadrons on the Epic Games Store. With Star Wars: Squadrons releasing at the beginning of next month, Fortnite is helping hype up the game's release date by bringing the starships of Squadrons to The Island.
This is not the first time a Star Wars ship has made its way into Fortnite. Players who participated in the Christmas 2019 Fortnite event were gifted a free Millenium Falcon glider, and those who attended the Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker preview event were given a free TIE Whisper glider. Additionally, players have had multiple opportunities to purchase Star Wars-themed character skins in Fortnite, including Rey, Kylo Ren, and various Stormtroopers. Now, another starship is being added to Fortnite's Star Wars collection.
Players who pre-order Star Wars: Squadrons exclusively on the Epic Games Store will receive the new Vanguard Squadron X-Wing glider for free in Fortnite. For those who don't plan on purchasing Star Wars: Squadrons, Fortnite is still allowing players to purchase the glider through the game's item store. The Vanguard Squadron X-Wing glider is available to purchase for 1,200 V-Bucks.
Fortnite has offered several other in-game cosmetics more that are obtained by playing or purchasing another game. Players were gifted Hulk's fists as a pickaxe if they participated in the Marvel's Avengers beta on PlayStation 4. Various mobile games have also offered exclusive cosmetics when played for a certain amount of time. However, Epic Games always makes sure it can make a buck off of the product as well by making it available for players to purchase in the item shop. That is a nice option for players who are willing to pay $12 for a cosmetic instead of much more for a full-fledged game.
Fortnite is slowly adding to a large roster of Star Wars spacecraft, much like it's doing with Marvel superheroes. It is interesting to see Fortnite add more content from other franchises to its own universe. It's a nerd's dream to see Tony Stark come falling from the sky riding the Millenium Falcon and striking down his opponents with a lightsaber, and Fortnite has made that dream come true. Hopefully, Star Wars: Squadrons is just one of many titles that will come to offer pre-order bonuses in the form of Fortnite cosmetics.
