Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Leslye Headland briefly discusses what Mae's new mission is, now that she has betrayed her Sith Master with no known intention of serving him again. Headland makes it clear that Osha's survival has changed everything for Mae, who no longer desires to simply kill the Jedi involved in that fateful night on Brendok. Now, according to Headland, "part of her mission is to prove how the Jedi, and especially Sol, are not who Osha thinks they are." Mae is now much more focused on winning over her sister than she is her Sith Master.

Master Sol Especially May Be Exposed For His Unknown Actions

With Mae now in disguise as Osha and intent upon exposing the Jedi, it could very well be that the Jedi will have to face a reckoning. Sol is, of course, at the highest risk of this, considering the fact he was directly involved in whatever happened on Brendok - but he's not the only one. Clearly, other Jedi have done the work to keep this incident a secret as well, meaning that whatever investigation Mae begins could lead to the Jedi becoming as secretive and dogmatic as they are in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

On the other hand, everything may not be what Mae thinks it is, either. Spending time with Sol and the Jedi may show Mae the good parts of the Jedi Order that she never got to witness, and it could even endear her to them in some sort of way. What's more likely, however, is that Mae will find the evidence she's looking for, and the Jedi will be forced to face the choice they made in the heat of the moment - all in the name of being protectors of the peace.

This twist in The Acolyte episode 5 kickstarts the third act of season 1, which will take viewers to the end of this particular story. There are still quite a few questions left to answer, especially concerning whatever happened that night on Brendok, but those will no doubt be answered later on, given the fact that some tidbits of footage have already been seen in various teasers. For now, viewers will have to keep waiting to see how Mae's mission pans out in The Acolyte, and whether she will succeed in exposing the Jedi or not.

The Acolyte episode 5 is now streaming. New episodes release Tuesdays on Disney+.
