As announced by Star Wars, The Mandalorian & Grogu will take Din Djarin and Grogu to the big screen, directed by Jon Favreau. The movie will begin production later this year, and it will be the first of an "ongoing feature-development slate" for the franchise. This officially confirms that The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars movie to hit theaters in the coming years, and the first since 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

Talking briefly about the movie, Favreau has spoken to his iration of George Lucas' world within the Star Wars galaxy. He also adds that the "prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting." Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy is just as excited, and she insists "this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."
