Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze has a promising future ahead of her in The Mandalorian season 4, and Star Wars has just confirmed what her new role will be. The ending of The Mandalorian season 3 sees Bo-Katan seemingly taking her place as the ruler of the Mandalorian people, with the Armorer quite literally ing her the torch to officially bring all groups and factions together once again. This ceremony at the Great Forge, however, is the last time Mandalore is seen in season 3, leaving the exact future plans for the planet and its governing body somewhat unknown. Star Wars is now making this more clear in quite a surprising way.

Bo-Katan and Mandalorians stand together in the Season 3 Finale

It was expected for Bo-Katan to take on the leadership role at the end of The Mandalorian season 3, but this marks the first time she is truly being called the new Mand'alor. This title is highly significant in Mandalorian culture, as it designates not only the leader of the Mandalorians, but also the uniter and, specifically, the war leader. It was previously associated with whoever possessed the Darksaber, beginning with its Mandalorian Jedi creator Tarre Vizsla, but now, the weapon's destruction is heralding a new age of a leader being selected based on alternate grounds.

Star Wars has only seen a small handful of Mand'alors thus far, with the Siege of Mandalore, and the next Mand'alor on record for even just a temporary time was Bo-Katan herself.

Now, heading into The Mandalorian season 4, it appears that Bo-Katan will officially be taking on this meaningful title once again. While the story of the season will focus on Din Djarin's and Grogu's adventures in hunting down Imperials under-the-table for Carson Teva and the New Republic, Bo-Katan will undoubtedly continue to be an important part of the story, with the rebuilding of Mandalore certainly in full effect. As the Mand'alor, Bo-Katan's choices in The Mandalorian from now on will impact the future of Mandalore's history, which becomes even more significant with a war against the Imperial Remnants brewing in the galaxy.
