Star Wars' movies and TV shows have had an interesting trajectory since the Skywalker Saga came to an end with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. In fact, The Rise of Skywalker was the most recent Star Wars movie, and the next, The Mandalorian & Grogu, won't be released until 2026.

During this seven-year interim, the franchise has been focused on TV shows, and many of Star Wars' best TV shows have been released in the last five years. The Star Wars fanbase is notoriously unpredictable, though, and the shows that are considered the 'best' aren't necessarily going to be those that garner the most interest. With the exception of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is still releasing episodes, here are the rankings for all live-action Star Wars shows released in the last five years, ranked according to hype, based on their Google Trends scores.

1 The Mandalorian Season 1

Somewhat unsurprisingly, The Mandalorian season 1 is the Star Wars show with the highest Google Trends score in the last five years, topping the charts with a score of 100. The Mandalorian is clearly an incredibly successful show, given it will be the first Star Wars show to make the jump to the big screen and is the next to be released of Star Wars' movies, after a years-long hiatus. Even before the show became a fan favorite, though, it was receiving plenty of attention.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of The Mandalorian was its distinction from all that had come before in Star Wars. Many of Star Wars' earlier shows, such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, were plenty innovative and popular, but they had pulled from many of the same characters and maintained a focus on the Jedi. The Mandalorian was truly unique, though, and it was billed as a bounty hunter show—something audiences had long hoped to see in the franchise.

This was only made all the better when Grogu, then called The Child in the show and Baby Yoda in the fanbase, captured the hearts of most viewers. Even with all the shows that have been released since The Mandalorian debuted in November 2019, it makes sense that this show remains on top. As Star Wars' first live-action TV show, The Mandalorian holds a very special place in the franchise.

2 The Mandalorian Season 2

Following the success of The Mandalorian season 1, The Mandalorian season 2 comes in second in of Google Trends score. The show did experience a small dip, dropping from a score of 100 to a score of 93 between seasons 1 and 2. Like The Mandalorian's initial success, this shift makes sense.

The Mandalorian season 2 still wins out over every other Star Wars TV show released in the last 5 years with its Google Trends score, confirming its slot as the most popular Star Wars project in recent years. As a sequel, it also makes sense that the show's second season wouldn't perform quite as well as its predecessor. Given the much lower score of certain other Star Wars shows, even with this slight drop, this Google Trends score for The Mandalorian season 2 remains impressive.

3 Obi-Wan Kenobi

The next highest Star Wars TV show Google Trends score is that of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was released in May 2022. Although the show comes in third overall, there was a significant drop in score between The Mandalorian season 1 and 2 and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Whereas The Mandalorian season 1 had a score of 100 and season 2 earned a 93, Obi-Wan Kenobi's Google Trends score is only 69.

The popularity of the show compared to other recent Star Wars shows may be due in part to the love many Star Wars audiences have for the prequel trilogy era and the prominent actors in the prequels, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen chief among them. Obi-Wan Kenobi saw the return of both McGregor and Christensen, including a brand-new on-screen reunion between Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, furthering the excitement about the show. However, the dip in score reinforces a waning interest in Star Wars shows of late.

4 Ahsoka

The Google Trends score for Ahsoka is fourth highest, at 43. Although this means Ahsoka outperformed a number of other Star Wars shows by this metric, it also represents a massive difference in the level of interest there was for The Mandalorian versus Ahsoka. Like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka's Google Trends score likely benefited from the connection the show has to previous Star Wars projects—in Ahsoka's case, The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka's Google Trends score likely benefited from the connection the show has to previous Star Wars projects.

Ahsoka was the live-action debut of multiple Rebels characters, including Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Sabine Wren, which drew in plenty of interest. It was also a continuation of Ahsoka Tano's story, and she is largely considered one of Star Wars' best characters. Despite this score being lower than The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it represents a positive change in the downward trend for Star Wars shows generally. It was also clearly enough to get the show renewed, as Ahsoka season 2 is currently in the works.

5 The Acolyte

The Acolyte premiered in June of this year, and although the show introduced a host of thrilling new characters, concepts, and planets, it was also met with considerable backlash and controversy, ultimately ending with its cancelation. It is perhaps not shocking, in light of that history, that The Acolyte's Google Trends score is one of the lowest among Star Wars' live-action TV shows released in the last 5 years, at 31. Like other inclusions on this list, The Acolyte's Google Trends score is not directly representative of the quality of the show.

For myriad reasons, The Acolyte faced review bombing and online vitriol, including targeted online harassment of many of the actors. Undoubtedly, this had some bearing on Google Trends score, in addition to The Acolyte's cancelation. Perhaps in the long-term, The Acolyte will receive a treatment similar to the prequel trilogy and become more beloved with time. At present, though, The Acolyte's lower Google Trends score suggests the show failed to gain interest on a larger scale.

6 The Mandalorian Season 3

Shockingly, The Mandalorian season 3 had one of the lowest Google Trends scores of all Star Wars' live-action shows over the last 5 years, marking a massive difference between this season and the first two installations of The Mandalorian. Whereas seasons 1 and 2 had scores of 100 and 93 respectively, The Mandalorian season 3 has a score of only 30 on Google Trends. This is congruent with much of the discourse about The Mandalorian season 3, which has suggested this most recent season is the show's least popular.

Issues raised about this season range from audiences disliking Din Djarin's arc in the season to complaints that there was no clear or compelling plot. It will be interesting to see what this means for the franchise moving forward, especially with The Mandalorian & Grogu seemingly the next step for the show. Currently, it is still unknown whether The Mandalorian season 4 is coming.

7 The Book of Boba Fett

Although Boba Fett is a beloved Star Wars character and has had numerous appearances across the Star Wars timeline, The Book of Boba Fett was not a very well-received show, and its Google Trends score reflects that. The second-lowest of all the scores for Star Wars' live-action TV shows, The Book of Boba Fett has a Google Trends score of just 25. Despite incredible cameos by some of Star Wars' biggest heroes, including Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, The Book of Boba Fett was generally not a hit with audiences.

It's difficult to pinpoint where exactly Star Wars went wrong with The Book of Boba Fett, although it's possible Star Wars audiences have something like resurrection fatigue, particularly following Palpatine's return in The Rise of Skywalker. With The Book of Boba Fett releasing just two years after that movie, perhaps viewers weren't ready to embrace yet another major Star Wars character miraculously returning from the 'dead.' Whatever the case may be, The Book of Boba Fett remains the second-lowest ranking Star Wars show in of Google Trends in recent years.

8 Andor

Bewilderingly, Andor is the lowest-ranking live-action Star Wars show in of Google Trends score in recent years. While it doesn't seem to have gotten the recognition it deserved when it was released, Andor is now very well-regarded among Star Wars TV shows, and, like Ahsoka, it is confirmed to be getting another season. Nevertheless, Andor has a Google Trends score of just 24.

Andor has a Google Trends score of just 24.

This again reinforces that Google Trends is not anywhere near the sole metric of a show's success or quality, as Andor is certainly among Star Wars' best shows in the last few years. It will be interesting to see how Andor season 2 performs on Google Trends based on this score, and, as mentioned, Skeleton Crew's scores are currently unknown. For now, however, Andor is shockingly the lowest-ranking live-action Star Wars show in of Google Trends score.
