Lucasfilm has just revealed a bold new direction for Star Wars: Visions beyond season 3 in 2025. The anime series inspired by the galaxy far, far away always provides fascinating stories and adventures, as audiences get to see exciting and unique takes on the Star Wars galaxy from various animation studios. However, it's just been announced that a brand-new special presentation is coming, allowing for a more long-form narrative with The Ninth Jedi.
As revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025's Star Wars Visions , a new project is coming in 2026 entitled Star Wars: Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi, a new limited series that will further explore the alternate Star Wars timeline where Sith Lords are attempting to prevent the return of the Jedi Order, multiple generations beyond the events of the canon movies.
The Ninth Jedi Is A Vision Of The Sith Wars
Technically Non-Canon, But A Distant Possible Future
The original Ninth Jedi story was featured in Star Wars Visions volume 1 from Production IG. In the story and its proposed Star Wars future, it was established that the Jedi Order had been virtually extinct for generations. However, a ruler named Margrave Juro had begun mining cyber crystals to create new lightsabers, hoping to revive and create a New Jedi Order. However, the Sith are quite numerous during this period, determined to wipe out any hope of the Jedi ever coming back.

The Ronin Is Back, & He's Taking On A Jedi Master: Star Wars Visions Season 3 Release Date Announced, Episode Details Revealed
Star Wars has officially announced the release date for Star Wars: Visions season 3, along with footage and episode descriptions for what's to come.
Nevertheless, one of the story's main characters is Lah Kara, daughter of the sabersmith Lah Zhima who had been building the lightsabers for Juro. Although her father was attacked and captured by Jedi hunters, Kara made it to the Aerial Temple where Juro had summoned multiple masterless Jedi to claim these lightsabers, only for the bulk of the warriors to reveal themselves as Sith Lords in disguise. Following an impressive duel, Kara and a young Jedi named Ethan ed Juro in his mission to rebuild the Jedi Order (and save Kara's father, who was taken by the hunters).
Our Take On Star Wars Visions' Future
Exploring The Ninth Jedi's Story Further Is Genius
The Ninth Jedi is one of a few Star Wars Visions stories that is absolutely worthy of being explored further. Thanks to this newly revealed limited series, Visions can do just that, showing how these few Jedi can survive a galaxy full of Sith Lords, while also attempting to presumably save Kara's father, as teased at the end of the original story. To that end, it's going to be very exciting to see how this non-canonical version Star Wars galaxy expands and grows with a long-form narrative and multiple episodes.
Star Wars: Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi is set to release in 2026 from Lucasfilm and Production IG, streaming on Disney+.
