Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Book of Boba Fett episode 6!

While there are still mysteries when it comes to the blue lightsaber of the Skywalkers in the The Book of Boba Fett. Not only were there potential retcons made with less than satisfying explanations in 2017, but The Book of Boba Fett episode 6 has made the Yoda lightsaber plot hole even bigger.

During the final lightsaber duels of Yoda's duel with Palpatine culminated in the diminutive Jedi losing his lightsaber before being blasted back by the Sith lord's lightning, retreating and being rescued by Senator Bail Organa. The lightsaber here is lost.

Yoda would go into exile on the planet Dagobah, eventually training Anakin's son Luke in the ways of the Force in Empire Strikes Back. The 2016 book Star Wars: Complete Locations depicts Yoda's hut featuring a small box containing Yoda's lightsaber, an odd reveal seeing how he's seen losing it while dueling Palpatine. Furthermore, 2017's canonical Darth Vader Marvel Comics series from writer Charles Soule begins immediately after the end of Revenge of the Sith with the Emperor and Vader watching Grand Vizier Mas Amedda destroying several lightsabers of fallen Jedi in a massive furnace, the last of which is identified as Yoda's. It is confirmed here to be destroyed in the first issue of Darth Vader.

Yoda's Lightsaber Was Destroyed In The Comics

Luke Skywalker Yoda Lightsaber

The story of Yoda's lightsaber has become even more confusing with The Book of Boba Fett episode 6. While the episode Star Wars has made the plot hole with Yoda's lightsaber even worse, seeing as how it shouldn't exist at this point in the timeline.

What Really Happened to Yoda's Lightsaber?

While Star Wars fans did notice and bring up the 2017 plot hole, it was later suggested by Yoda being in exile on Dagobah. Why would he have made a new one if he had chosen to remove himself from the galaxy? Luke having Yoda's lightsaber in The Book of Boba Fett serves to confuse the point even further, putting a much larger spotlight on the plot hole beyond a simple reference book and highlights a lack of attention to detail on the creative side.

Boba-Fett-Luke-Skywalker-Yoda-Lightsaber-Grogu-Choice

While the destruction of Yoda's lightsaber served to symbolize the end of the Jedi Order, it's difficult to argue that Luke offering the lightsaber to Grogu isn't an exciting moment regardless of the plot confusion. While he may not take the lightsaber and choose instead to reunite with the Mandalorian, the simple fact that Grogu was given the opportunity to wield it is very significant in the Star Wars timeline. As such, it seems as though Lucasfilm and Disney were willing to endure the retcon/plot hole problems, seeing the moment as more than worthwhile.
