Stardew Valley Switch Special Edition, and has sold over 10 million copies. Players have loved Pelican Town and farming their days away.

After four years of development, Stardew Valley is still getting updates, but many players are turning their attention to the idea of a second Stardew Valley, and though there hasn't been anything confirmed by the developer Eric Barone players are beginning to wonder what a second edition should bring.

With an expanded team and budget, Stardew Valley 2 could be even better than the original game, with features that players have been asking for getting added in, and even though most parts of Stardew Valley are fantastic, there are some pieces that should remain in Pelican Town's history books.

Stardew Valley 2 Should Add Animal Personalities

Stardew Valley already has an impeccable core gameplay loop, and the split between farming and building relationships has enraptured players and kept them coming back year after year, but there is one part of this game that includes both elements, and it was rather undeveloped in Stardew Valley.

For many players, caring for animals in a farming simulator is their favorite part of the game, but animals in Stardew Valley don't have much personality. Though there are some factors that affect their mood and the items they produce, they are shared across all animals and are closer to a math equation than a relationship. In the first game, the player does the same things daily with their pigs that they do with their cows that they do with their dinosaurs. No matter what the player is raising, they need to follow the exact same steps to a happy animal, which can make every animal feel the same instead of individual family on the farm.

Stardew Valley 2 Should Ditch the Museum's Random Drops

If a player is attempting to 100% complete Stardew Valley they will have to do some pretty time-consuming tasks. From cooking all 74 meals in Stardew Valley to caching every fish, there are a lot of boxes to check, but none of them as time-consuming or annoying as the museum.

The museum in Stardew Valley is almost entirely filled by luck. Out of 95 items in the Museum, many of them are artifacts that can only be found in random drops. Adding to the difficulty is that there is no protection against players finding duplicates, which means players may end up missing a single artifact for several in-game years. Stardew Valley 2 should adapt the museum to act more like other achievements in the game. They too can be time-consuming, but there are always things the player can do to ensure that they are making positive progress.

Stardew Valley 2 Should Add More for Multiplayer

Stawdew Multiplayer Splash

Stardew Valley is a fantastic game to play with friends, but at the moment there isn't a way to truly share a farm with another player. On any given farm a single player is the host and the other players are their guests. There is still a 'main character' that is responsible for much of the progress in Pelican town and has the main house on the farm.

Stardew Valley 2 should add features to even out the hosts and the other of the farm, especially if they begin the game together. Changes such as letting each player have a pet, or letting the houses have similar upgrades, or adding challenging multiplayer monsters would go a long way to encouraging different farmers to play together and enjoy a co-operative experience.

Players may end up waiting a long time for Stardew Valley 2, as the creator is still actively releasing updates for the first Stardew Valley. This means that some of the features that players are waiting for might be years away. Luckily, if the first Stardew Valley isn't quite what a player needs anymore, they can turn to the game's very active modding community for new features and added content.
