Wizards of the Coast has just issued an apology for issuing a takedown of a fan-made Baldur's Gate 3-inspired Stardew Valley mod. Endorsed by Larian CEO Swen Vincke earlier this year, this brilliant crossover mod has perhaps been one of the most highly-anticipated additions to the game. Adding a plethora of new content, characters and even some story, players have been eager to get their teeth stuck in it.

Issuing an apology, Wizards of the Coast has informed fans that its recent takedown of the Baldur's Village mod for Stardew Valley was a mistake. In a statement shared with PC Gamer, Wizards of the Coast clarified: "The Baldur's Village takedown was issued mistakenly—we are sorry about that. We are in the process of fixing that now so fans and the Stardew community can continue to enjoy this great mod!" As the decision received a lot of backlash from fans of both games, it's hard to know for sure the reasoning behind the change of heart.

This newly released mod for Stardew Valley added BG3 characters and story to the game, transforming the cozy experience into something with closer ties to the fantastical Forgotten Realms, the preeminent Dungeons & Dragons setting adapted by Larian. As a full expansion to the game, the Baldur's Village mod adds an entire village of 20 recognizable characters to the Stardew, as well as shops, items and events related to some of the game's story. The creator plans to further enhance it down the line with new gameplay features, additional NPCs, and new storylines.

While the company claims it was "issued mistakenly," there are many reasons it could've been much more legitimate.
