Update: We think we know where The Elder Scrolls VI is set!

Another new Fallout game already? Does that mean The Elder Scrolls Online is really holding back The Elder Scrolls VI. Hells (Doom Eternal reference!) no!

Bethesda's Todd Howard just did the mic drop of mic drops to end their pre-E3 2018 briefing. Not only did they address all the big questions about Fallout 76 and offer a deep dive into RAGE 2 gameplay. Not only are we getting new sequels to DOOM and Wolfenstein and a brand new mobile game, but Bethesda's boss man ended their keynote presentation by revealing two long-term projects that fans have been dying for real info on.

The first is a game we reported on in April called Starfield, the first brand new IP from Bethesda in 25 years. It's a "next-gen" single-player game "in an all-new epic franchise" according to Howard so wait until the PlayStation 5 and whatever new Xbox Phil Spencer teased during the Xbox briefing earlier today.

And after that, the other massive game in development is the one we've all been waiting for - the true sequel to Skyrim. The brief teaser revealed the beautiful lush isles which could be teasing that The Elder Scrolls VI is set in Elsweyr, home of the Khajiit, or more likely, Hammerfell or High Rock.

The timing of TES 6 seems to be in line with where ZeniMax and Bethesda likely envisioned The Elder Scrolls Online living on until, healthily, as to not cannibalize their own player base. Since Fallout has yet to go the MMO route (they're doing that now with Fallout 76), it's smart timing to let fans know a single-player experience in their other core franchise is indeed in the works. It's also the most-asked question everyone at Bethesda is likely sick of hearing about.

But for an E3 conference, this one was an impressive one. Bethesda is a power house and they knew where they were doing putting their foot into the sand a few years ago when they decided to step up with their own press conferences like other publishers Electronic Arts and Ubisoft do every year.
