Resources help players in Starfield build looming outposts, craft important items, and improve their weapons. There are a lot of resources, from natural minerals to concoctions harvested from living organisms. Some resources are more valuable than others due to their frequent use or their role in crafting necessities. Many of these resources are common but used up quickly.
If you don't want to spend time wandering the galaxy mining rocks, you can purchase most resources from vendors. The rarer the resource, the more Credits you'll have to pour out. Mining may be time-consuming, but for most players, it's part of the fun. Purchasing common resources is usually a waste of Credits since you can find natural deposits on multiple planets.
1 Aluminum
Aluminum is the most important resource you can harvest in Starfield. If you are crafting something for your outpost or your weapons, there's a good chance it needs Aluminum. It's ed as a Common Tier 1 resource, which means there are Aluminum deposits on hundreds of planets and moons. Well over 300 planets you'll visit on your adventures have Aluminum hidden somewhere on the surface. It's also an easy resource to purchase.
Aluminum is used in dozens of crafting recipes. If you want to build an outpost, you'll need Aluminum for the Solar Array, Industrial Workbench, Pharmaceutical Lab, Spacesuit Workbench, Research Lab, and more. Aluminum can be found in weapon mods such as Iron Sights, Compensator, Whitehot Rounds, and Tactical Stock. You'll need a steady supply of Aluminum if you want to do much.
2 Adhesive
When you're building things, you need to make sure those things stick together. That's where Adhesive comes in. Adhesive is easiest to find in vendor inventories, like that of Amoli Bava of Jemison Mercantile, one of the best vendors in Starfield. If you want to harvest it yourself, you can scan various species of flora and fauna and see if they drop Adhesive.
Adhesive is used to craft mods on the Weapon Workbench, Spacesuit Workbench, and Research Lab. It helps you unlock recipes for Magazine and Battery Mods, Grip and Stock Mods, Helmet Mods, and even Decoration. Bring Adhesive to the Spacesuit Workbench helps you craft Sensory Array, Pocketed, Gravitic Composites, and various shielding Mods. Finally, Adhesive is featured in a couple dozen Weapon Mods like Explosive Rounds, Amplifier, and Recon Scope.
3 Titanium
Titanium can be hard to find as it is a Rare Tier 2 resource, but it's one of the key resources used in crafting weapon mods. Some of the most important mods that require Titanium are the Suppressor, High Velocity, High Powered, Choke, Fully Automatic, and Semi-Automatic. Titanium is also involved in some Research Lab and Spacesuit Workbench recipes.
There are a few dozen planets and moons where you can harvest Titanium. Titan and Pluto from our home solar system, Sol, are popular mining locations due to the system sitting at Level 1. Lower-level players can also try Helio in the Cheyenne system, which sits at Level 1, or Procyon II in the Procyon A system at Level 10.
4 Copper
Copper is another Common Tier 1 resource found on over 300 planets and moons in Starfield. Some of the most Copper-abundant systems include Cheyenne, Shoza, Ixyll, and Groombridge. If you're a low-level player in desperate need of Copper, try mining the moons Rhea, Ariel, Titania, and Charon, found orbiting Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto in the Sol system.
Copper may not be in as many recipes as aluminum, but it is one of the resources needed when constructing the major structures of an outpost. Copper is involved in the Solar Array, Helium-3 Extractor, Cooking Station, and Research Lab. It helps craft Slug Shot and Semi-Automatic weapon mods and EM Shielding mods for the Spacesuit and Helmet.
5 Sealant
Sealant is another organic material best purchased from vendors across the Settled Systems. While you can find it with flora and fauna, just like Adhesive, it is far easier to spend a few Credits on this important resource. Some vendors who sell Sealant include Amoli Bava at Jemison Mercantile, Wen Tseng at UC Distribution, Dietrich Sieghart at Sieghart's Outfitters, and James Newill at Newill's Goods.
About 30 Weapon Mod recipes in Starfield require 1 or 2 Sealant to craft. The list includes Long Barrel With Laser Sight, Tactical Stock, Depleted Uranium Rounds, Choke, and Fully Automatic. Sealant also makes an appearance in a couple of Spacesuit Mods (Gravitic Composites and Pocketed) and Pack Mods (Extra Capacity and Oxygen Reserve).
6 Tungsten
Tungsten is a major research and mod crafting resource with three dozen recipes to its name. You'll need Tungsten to research Horticulture, Manufacturing, Helmet Mods, Barrel Mods, Muzzle Mods, and Internal Mods. Some of the specific weapon mods using Tungsten include Armor-Piercing Rounds, Large Magazine, Double Barrel Muzzle, Choke, Focal Lens, and Suppressor. It's also used in a number of Helmet and Spacesuit Mods related to shielding.
Tungsten stands out from other valuable resources as an Uncommon Tier 1 resource found on about 70 planets. You can stop by Titan and Pluto on a visit to the Sol System for some Tungsten mining, or make a pit stop on Bondar or Voss in the Alpha Centauri system.
7 Lead
Lead's importance in Starfield stems from its extensive use in Magazine and Battery Mods for weaponry. Lead is a crafting ingredient for most rounds and magazines, including Drum Magazine, Gut Buster Rounds, Large Magazine, Penetrator Rounds, Slug Shots, Depleted Uranium Rounds, and Hornet Nest. If you want to craft fancy ammo mods in Starfield, you'll need to have a steady supply of Lead.
Lead s the list of Common Tier 1 resources found on over 300 orbiting bodies across the Settled Systems. Sol is an excellent system to harvest Lead, as it is found on Venus, Earth, Mars, and multiple moons. Other systems with Lead deposits include a few planets in the Narion system at Level 1 and the Alpha Centauri system at Level 5.
8 Iron
Since iron is a major metal used in construction and building, it's not surprising that it's used for a couple dozen recipes in Starfield. It is yet another key resource for outpost structure building. It's used to build the Iron Extractor, Industrial Workbench, Cooking Station, Pharmaceutical Lab, and Weapon Workbench. It's also featured in a variety of weapon barrel mods, like the Long Barrel and Tech Barrel mods.
As another Common Tier 1 resource, you can mine Iron on over 300 planets. If you want to find something in the easy-to-explore Sol system, head to the Luna, Callisto, or Io moons around Earth and Jupiter. The Narion system is another excellent Level 1 system for less experienced players searching for Iron. Kreel, Vectera, and Podius all have Iron deposits.
9 Nickel
Nickel is another resource needed to build key outpost structures in Starfield. You'll need Nickel to craft a Helium-3 Extractor and the Weapon Workbench. It's used to unlock Barrel Mods and Grip and Stock Mods with the Research Lab. You can also find Nickel in a few key mods, including Iron Sights, Semi-Automatic, Compensator, and the Ballistic Shielding Helmet Mod.
Nickel is another entry in the list of Common Tier 1 resources found on 300+ planets and moons. If you're in the Narion system early in the game, stop by Niira for some easy Nickel mining. In our home Sol system, the planet Venus and the moons Mimas and Oberon can supply some extra Nickel. Alpha Centauri houses 5 orbiting bodies with Nickel too.
10 Platinum
Platinum in Starfield is featured in three Internal weapon Mod recipes. Each of these mods are highly valued for a wide range of weapons. Bullet Hose boosts accuracy, fire rate, range, and tracer frequency for 2 Platinum. High Velocity increases range and accuracy while Hair Trigger makes it easier to fire for a better fire rate. Both require 3 Platinum to craft.
Platinum s Titanium's side as a Rare Tier 2 resource found on dozens of planets in Starfield. Bondar in Alpha Centauri is one of the lowest-level planets you can find Platinum on at Level 5. Altair I, Kapteyn I, and Tau Ceti I, V, & VIII-d are other orbiting bodies in Level 10 systems with Platinum deposits.
