What the creators have achieved with what started off as little more than a toy tie-in is truly remarkable, as Johnson and the artists he’s worked with thus far have managed to wring a surprising amount of emotional storytelling out of Hasbro’s saga of transforming robots.

Starscream being attached to a HISS tank is the latest bit of awesomeness in the Energon Universe era, and it will be very exciting to see what the creators do with Starscream’s new “upgrade.”

Although it only lasts two issues, this Starscream-focused arc promises to have major ramifications as Transformers enters its second year at Skybound. Even though he was left as little more than a dying husk after his confrontation with Soundwave, Starscream remains a major force in the Energon Universe. Whether he attempts to re-take control of the Decepticons or forms his own new faction to stand against the Autobots, readers definitely shouldn’t count out Starscream in the Energon Universe era of Transformers - as well as G.I. Joe.
