Why Grey's Anatomy Spinoff Is Ending Explained By Disney Exec

Andy and Vic both experienced plenty of relationship drama in Station 19 season 6 finale. All of this spells good storylines for Vic and Andy in season 7.

As a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Station 19 takes after its parent show with the many different workplace relationships that cause plenty of entertaining drama for the characters. For the first few Station 19 seasons, Andy was stuck in a love triangle between Ryan and Sullivan, before the former’s death and her season 5 divorce with the latter. Vic also had a Station 19 love interest killed off in Ripley before she was able to move on with Jackson and eventually Theo, though neither relationship worked out. Fortunately, Station 19 season 7 has the chance to move away from relationship drama and into better stories for Vic and Andy.

Andy’s Captain Story & Vic’s Crisis One Story Are Better For Them

The Station 19 season 6 finale saw Andy finally becoming captain of SFD Station 19, and while her first day on the job featured an unexpected off-duty disaster, her leadership in crisis proved that she was the perfect woman for the promotion after seasons of being overlooked. Station 19 season 6 had also seen Vic really finding her place and where she fits into the team as someone who has never been really ionate about firefighting the way Andy, Maya, and others at the station are. Vic’s fire camp for girls and her preparation to take over Crisis One provides the opportunity for great Station 19 season 7 storylines.

Andy finally getting what she’s been fighting the entire series for and Vic finally finding her ion and what she wants to do are far more interesting storylines than their romantic ones from Station 19 season 6. Andy’s captaincy is already off to an interesting start as one of her missions will be making sure the department doesn’t lose Chief Ross in Station 19 season 7. Before Vic has even taken over Crisis One, she’s already shown great promise through her work with Beckett, proving how important mental health awareness was in Station 19 season 6.

Andy & Vic Deserve Stories With More Than Just Love Interests

Part of what makes the potential for Andy and Vic’s storylines in Station 19 season 7 outside of romance so exciting is that not focusing on love interests allows for more of a spotlight on them as individuals. When a romantic pairing is introduced, it’s easy for characters to lose some of their individuality in the series, with almost all of their scenes and storylines revolving around said relationship. Andy’s captaincy storyline and Vic’s Crisis One storyline will allow them to shine on their own in Station 19 season 7, which is what they deserve as strong women of color.
