A fan-made website dedicated to the Valve announced its Steam Deck Verified system back in October as a way to help people find out which games can be accessed on the new console. Valve is continually reviewing each game in its massive Steam catalog and placing each in one of three categories. However, the Steam app and website currently don't show the category each game is placed in yet.

Originally unveiled back in July of last year with an initial launch date of November, the Steam Deck quickly became one of the most anticipated hardware releases of the year. Unfortunately, the new handheld console from Half-Life developer Valve was eventually delayed to 2022 due to production issues brought about by the ongoing chip shortage that has also affected the production of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Valve finally confirmed last month that the Steam Deck will officially release in February.

The details revealed by the website show the meaning behind the Steam Deck Verified categories and how games are placed into each. According to Valve, games must fulfill all or some requirements involving input, display, seamlessness, and system to be placed in either the verified or playable categories, respectively. Some examples include in-game interface text legibility, display resolution , game performance on the Steam Deck, functionality with the console’s controls, and more.

The Steam Deck Verified Games website by Avery.cafe helps those who have already preordered a Steam Deck find out which games in their library or on the Steam store they can expect to work on the console when it releases later this month. While Valve will eventually make it so that the categories will be visible straight from the Steam store, whether on the Steam Deck, website, or apps, the fan-made website is a convenient way to quickly check whether a game is fully compatible with Steam Deck.
