A is set to release on PC on June 11, with a plethora of new features, costumes, and more. Stellar Blade saw players take on the role of Eve as she battled monstrous creatures known as the Naytibas in a post-apocalyptic world. The game had a mix of platforming, hack-and-slash elements, and Souls game mechanics. Now, a follow-up is confirmed to be on the way.

According to an IR Presentation file and roap posted by developer Shift Up, the Stellar Blade sequel will be released before 2027 (via IGN). The roap details some of the company's plans and strategies from 2024 (Stellar Blade's launch year) to 2027. There is a mention of a "platform expansion," which is likely the PC release of Stellar Blade. Skill Up is also working on another title called Project Wishes, a multiplatform RPG that hasn't been officially revealed yet, but that project, too, will be released before 2027.

Stellar Blade Leaves A Lot Of Room For Expansion In A Sequel

Great Foundations That Can Be Improved

Stellar Blade was released to mostly positive reviews and sold over a million copies by June 24, 2024. Fans and critics alike praised the game's fun combat system, soundtrack, graphic fidelity, art direction, and action set pieces. Eve's unlockable outfits also drew a lot of attention. However, the game was criticized by some for its side quest design, its narrative and characters, its RPG mechanics, and its heavy reliance on Eve's sex appeal.

Stellar Blade is brimming with optional content, cosmetics, and collectibles aside from the main storyline. Hitting the end credits is just the start.

Stellar Blade has a great foundation and was a well-received title, so a sequel is the prime opportunity to make an even better game. The game's endings, though, may leave its canonical story weight up in the air, so it remains to be seen how a sequel will be approached, from a narrative point of view. But given Eve's popularity and the great combat mechanics, a sequel will probably aim to refine the series, instead of redefining and changing what fans and critics loved about it.

Our Take: A Sequel To Stellar Blade Isn't Surprising

But Its Release Date Might Be

A sequel to a successful game like Stellar Blade is not surprising in the slightest, but what might be is how soon it seems to be coming. The game has barely been out a year, and the PC version is releasing later this year. With the game currently scheduled to be released in 2026, that's a pretty fast turnaround for such a big project. Skill Up is also working on another major project, but the Stellar Blade sequel seems to be taking priority.

Given how long it takes to develop games nowadays, this news should please Stellar Blade fans, especially if they were holding out for the PC version. Knowing the game is getting a sequel might entice more people to pick it up for the first time or to jump back into the game. Now that a sequel has been officially confirmed, and a PC version is coming in just a month, it's a great time to be a Stellar Blade fan.
