In this film, Carell plays a simple-minded meteorologist known as Brick Tamland. It is revealed by the end of the film that he has gotten married, had 11 kids, and had become a political adviser for George W. Bush.

While trying to balance fatherhood, he is recruited to combat a legendary villain. Along the way, he meets a woman who might turn out to be just as good of a mother to his girls as she is a secret agent.
The charming film created some laugh-worthy moments and introduced tons of new, entertaining characters. Of course, it was also helped that Carell knew how to play up the starring character.

This indie coming-of-age film tells the story of a 14-year-old kid who goes on a trip to Cape Cod with his mother and the abusive man she is in a relationship with. While Liam James plays the teen and Toni Collette plays the mother, Steve Carell plays her boyfriend.
This role was different for Carell, who more commonly played loveable and comical characters. Despite this, he succeeded in his part.
The talented cast and interesting story had the film receiving positive reviews and multiple award nominations.

This 2011 rom-com has Steve Carell's Cal Weaver taking dating advice from a playboy after his wife of 25 years cheats on him. The problem? The guy he's taking pointers from is after his daughter, Hannah.
This funny film succeeded with a strong cast containing Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and Emma Stone. The witty writing also helped its cause, and the plot alone was the perfect set up for all sorts of hilarious events to ensue.
Despicable Me (7.6)
The Despicable Me and Minions franchises couldn't have launched without a little help from the original movie. Steve Carell's animated supervillain, Gru, sets out to complete his biggest heist to date: stealing the moon. This proves to be a challenge, however, after he accidentally adopts three orphan girls.
Despicable Me was hilarious and heartwarming, raking in all the cash at the box office and gaining a whole lot of love.
Little Miss Sunshine (7.8)
In Little Miss Sunshine, a dysfunctional family travels together on a bus in order to their daughter’s attempt to take the crowning title at the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. Though Abigail Breslin plays the kid queen, Toni Collette plays her mother, Greg Kinnear plays her father, and Steve Carell plays her uncle.
The film was a huge success for featuring a hilarious script and strong performances. Shout-out to Carell for making the latter of these compliments a reality.

This biographical comedy-drama tells of the way in which the 2007-2008 financial crisis affected the U.S. housing bubble. Starring big names including Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt, the film had a lot going for it. Thankfully, this casting paid off.
The movie received lots of praise for tackling a serious subject with both detail and humor.
In it, Carell plays Mark Baum, who is the leader of an independent trading firm. He is constantly frustrated with the condition of American banks.
