If there's anything fans of correct theories about Pink Diamond and Garnet long before they were proven in the show.
Naturally, there were little tidbits from the original series that fans were looking for payoff of in the sequel, Steven Universe Future. Not only that, but fans had questions about storylines or characters that hadn't been completely resolved. Here are 10 questions that fans had from the original show that were answered in Future.
What Happened To Pink Pearl's Eye?
In the final episodes of Steven Universe, we first meet Pink Pearl as White Diamond's pearl. Under White Diamond's control, we don't see her actual colors until "Change Your Mind." Even then, we still don't learn how her eye got damaged or why she can't simply fix it, like all gems and their injuries.
All these questions are answered in the Future episode "Volleyball." Along with getting her new name, Volleyball, she also provides an explanation about her eye. She reveals Pink Diamond damaged her eye during a temper tantrum and she can't fix it because of her psychological ties to her former master.
Where Are The Other Rose Quartzes?
Because the Diamonds believed Pink Diamond was shattered by a Rose Quartz, they had all the other Roses poofed and bubbled. After they learned the truth, the innocent Roses were set free. The episode "Rose Buds" is the first time we not only get to see other Roses, but hear what they sound like.
Rose/Pink Diamond is played by Susan Egan, but the Roses seen in this episode are played by Kimberly Brooks, who plays Jasper in the series. This answers what Roses look/sound like and it further confirms Pink Diamond was not a Rose. If she was, she would've been voiced by Brooks and not Egan.
Does Steven Have More Powers?
Steven Universe doesn't start with Steven having access to his powers right away. He develops his shield, bubble, floating powers, and other abilities over time. By the end of the series, it seemed like Steven had discovered everything he could about his abilities. But it left some wondering, is there more Steven's capable of?
The answer to that is in the very first episode of Future, called "Little Homeschool." Steven gains a new transformation that makes him glow pink and gives him super speed, strength, and a variety of other new abilities. He may have trouble controlling them at first, but it's useful to have powers in his arsenal.
Who Were Greg's Parents?
Little was known about Greg's family before Future. We knew he had an aunt, uncle, and a cousin named Andy. We also knew that his last name was DeMayo before he changed it to Universe. But we didn't know much beyond that before an episode of Future called "Mr. Universe."
When Greg takes Steven to his childhood house, we finally see what Greg's parents look like from a photo. While we don't get their names or hear their voices, it's nice to have a distinct picture of how the characters look.
Where Did The Universe Name Come From?
Speaking of "Mr. Universe," this is also the episode where we learn why Greg changed his last name to Universe. He reveals that his parents were strict and overbearing. Once he heard a song called "Mr. Universe," it inspired him to hit the road and not turn back.
Though Steven may not be as pleased to find out the name came from a song, it provides the audience substantial context on where and how Greg was leading up to before he met Rose Quartz.
What Are Ruby And Sapphire's New Designs?
In the season five episode "Together Alone," Garnet, along with Pearl and Amethyst, is poofed by the Diamonds. In "Change Your Mind," Steven manages to pull Garnet out of her gems, but we don't get to see Ruby and Sapphire's new designs.
Fortunately, the Future episode "Together Forever" gives us our first look of Ruby and Sapphire's latest forms. The most notable difference is Ruby's headband, which used to match the color of her shirt. Now, it matches the color of her wedding ring she began wearing in "Reunited."
Where Are Eyeball And Aquamarine?
In Steven Universe, we knew that Aquamarine and Eyeball were both last on Homeworld. One handed Steven over to the Diamonds, while the other spoke against him in a trial. But Steven Universe Future takes place two years after the show, so naturally, they'd both be up to new things.
In the Future episode "Bluebird," Aquamarine and Eyeball decide to fuse over their mutual hatred of Steven. They may only appear in that episode, but it was nice to see what they'd been up to since we last saw them.
Are Lars And Sadie Still Together?
Throughout Steven Universe, Lars and Sadie have had an on-again, off-again relationship. When Lars came back from space in "Change Your Mind," the two appeared to be really close. There was no official mention of their breakup, but there was one in Future.
In the Future episode "Little Graduation," Steven learns that Lars and Sadie have stopped dating, though they are still really good friends. Once Lars couldn't bear the thought of Sadie living a happy life without him, but now he's accepting that he can't be with Sadie for her to be happy. Maybe it takes a trip around the galaxy to truly grow as a person.
Will Jasper Be Redeemed?
A major theme throughout Steven Universe is that anyone, no matter how evil, can make a change and can be forgiven. Even the Diamonds, after years of forcing gems to do their bidding, have turned over a new leaf. Though many villains have been redeemed (such as Peridot), one villain who wasn't was Jasper.
Fortunately, "Little Homeschool," brings Jasper back as a sort of mentor for Steven. While she hasn't fully grown to liking him, she respects him enough to fight him and acknowledge his place as a Diamond. It's an unorthodox redemption, but a welcome one.
Will Steven And Connie Get Together?
Steven and Connie's romantic relationship has been teased several times in Steven Universe, but it was never anything definite. It was hinted at even further in the movie, when Connie kissed Steven on the cheek. But again, nothing was confirmed romantically.
Their romance definitely gained momentum in Future. In the episode "Together Forever," Steven asks Connie to marry him. Even though she says "not now," we can see that this doesn't permanently hurt their relationship, as the two share a tender kiss in the final episode "The Future."
