Summary
- Storm's power feat in Fall of the House of X #4 showcases her meteorological prowess on a cosmic scale, proving her godlike abilities.
- The Krakoa Era solidifies Storm's status as an Omega-level mutant, showcasing her solo heroism and immense power upgrades.
- In an alternate timeline, Storm reaches her ultimate form, manifesting a red sun and leading the Brotherhood of Mutants with unparalleled strength.
The latest power upgrade that Storm wields is unlike anything that fans have seen from her onscreen or on-. Ororo Munroe's movie appearances have yet to showcase the true scale of her power that she's displayed in the comics. Even X-Men '97, which went a long way in reminding readers how powerful she is, also managed to depower the Omega-level mutant.
Fall of the House of X #4 by Gerry Duggan, Lucas Werneck, Jethro Morales, Bryan Valenza, and VC's Travis Lanham, Tom Muller, and Jay Bowen makes it clear just how powerful Storm can be when she sails towards the sun, bringing an Earth-born thunderstorm in tow with her. It's also worth noting that this moment comes not long after she's resurrected Magneto from the dead by force.
Before the Krakoa Era came to a close recently, the latest chapter of X-Men comics turned Storm into the voice of the solar system and a living god, solidifying her as a powerhouse of the Marvel Universe.
Storm's Power Move is Out of This World
She Does the Impossible
In Fall of the House of X, the end is near for the Krakoa Era. It could also be the end of the X-Men, as Cyclops leads the charge on the moon in a final effort to dispose of Nimrod and the rest of Orchis' forces. The X-Men are getting their backsides handed to them when Nimrod is soon warned that a thunderstorm is coming his way. He initially brushes it off since they are near the sun, but he is then told that the storm itself is coming from the planet Earth, all while Storm brings the literal storm with her, alongside her fury.
Think, for a second, about just how impossible a feat like this is. There's a reason why the moon doesn't experience weather of any kind like Earth does. That's because it doesn't share the planet's atmospheric temperature or precipitation. Something as simple as wind is irrelevant on the moon. As a result, a climate like this should work as an Achilles' heel for a mutant like Storm, but of course, Storm is no mere mutant. She's powerful enough to bring another planet's atmosphere and weather where it theoretically should not be possible to welcome.
The Science of Storm's Feat of Power
X-Men's Editor Breaks it Down
It is worth noting that this very moment becomes a point of conversation for AIPT Comics during their interview with Jordan D. White, the editor of the X-Men books at Marvel. AIPT answers a question from a fan named Reece wanting to know just how fast Storm is traveling to the Sentinel City in the final pages of Fall of the House of X #4. More specifically, the fan wonders if she is flying at the speed of light. The X-Men editor had this to say:
Jordan: I’m going to say no, she’s not moving at the speed of light. I would imagine she’s approaching the speed of light. It’s a comic book, so real science doesn’t apply, but I tend to lean a little bit towards it when I can. And I know that a human body moving at the speed of light is pretty outrageous of an idea, especially on its own — even with omega-level powers. Like, it would do things to the physical atoms that I think would be bad. So I’m going to say she’s not moving at the speed of light, but she’s moving very, very, very fast.
As White mentions, this is still a comic book at the end of the day, so real world logic need not apply. However, that doesn't make it any less fascinating to think about a moment like this in real world, rational and thinking about how actual science can be applied to a moment like this. Storm may not be traveling at the speed of light, but she is traveling near the speed of light. In a vacuum, light travels at 299,792,458 meters (the equivalent of 983,571,056 feet) per second and somehow, Storm managed to catch up to that same velocity.
Storm's Achievements in the Krakoa Era
The Many Feats of Power By Storm
Few mutants have benefited so greatly from the Krakoa Era as Storm has. Indeed, this era has proved to be something of a coming out party for Ororo Munroe. Storm has always been depicted as being pretty powerful, with her debut seeing the people of Kenya mistaking her mutant powers as the gifts of a rain goddess. The Krakoa Era, though, went out of its way to showcase what makes Storm the Omega-level mutant that she is. For instance, speaking of godhood, not only does Thor confirm that he induction into the Thor Corps solidifies it.

"I'll Need to Make a Heroic Entrance": Thor Gave Storm a Key Tool in Her War on Mars
Storm makes a grand entrance when returning to the war on Arakko, which would never have been possible without a previous adventure with Thor.
That's merely the tip of the iceberg. The Krakoa Era saw Storm embark largely on her own as a solo hero away from the X-Men, particularly after she was more god than mutant after all.
Storm and the Sins of Sinister
She Reaches Her Ultimate Form in an Alternate Timeline
Some of Storm's most impressive feats of power come in the miniseries Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants. The series takes place in the dystopian future set in the "Sins of Sinister" timeline, referring to a storyline where Mister Sinister kills of the Quiet Council and ensures they resurrect with his own DNA in them. It's a Storm as the X-Men's last hope, since she removed herself from the resurrection pool and, thus, cannot be infected by Sinister. This timeline's dystopian future offers what's, essentially, Storm's final form.
In her final form, this is Storm at her most powerful she's ever been. One thousand years after Mister Sinister took over Krakoa and its Quiet Council, a cloned resurrected Storm is able to manifest an entire red sun from her powers, one becomes the new Magneto, and lives up to the status by continuing to achieve unbelievable feats of strength.
All of these miraculous feats of power, regardless of how she achieves them or which timeline she achieves them in, can almost be considered a case of manifest destiny for Storm. This is a character who has been called and considered a god by her peers from the very moment she debuted on- back in Giant-Size X-Men #1. She continues to live up to that expectation of her abilities without any signs of slowing down. Storm continues to find new ways to boost her powers, earning her status as one of the strongest mutants to step out of the X-Men.
