Warning: Spoilers for Storm #7!As one of Marvel’s greatest superheroes, I’m anxiously anticipating the MCU debut of Thor movies. As a powerful weather witch with goddess-level abilities, Storm has long been connected to the God of Thunder, but their storyline in her solo series has already shown serious potential to inspire an electrifying cinematic team-up.

Storm #7 by Murewa Ayodele and Luciano Vecchio sees Ororo Munroe face off against a group of newly-introduced Storm Gods. After their amazing action-packed battle, I’m already hoping to see these new gods make their way into the MCU alongside Storm, and a potential Thor 5 makes perfect sense for their collective debut.

The first glimpse of Storm in an MCU-adjacent project has already seen her wielding Mjölnir in What If…?, and Ororo’s ongoing comic finally pairs her with Thor in this issue’s cliffhanger. They grace Mateus Manhanini’s cover of the Storm #8, looking powerful side-by-side.

Though she obviously has years of history on the X-Men to pull from, I’m loving Storm’s current series as a solo hero so much that I think she could make her MCU debut as a standalone Storm God. The first six issues of the comic series were already spectacular, but Storm #7 has an intense, dramatic, and just plain cool action scene that the MCU needs more of. When Storm goes up against four unique new gods to add to Marvel’s pantheon, their fight brilliantly showcases her immense power, even reminding audiences and Ororo herself of her magical bloodline.

Storm’s display of power in this battle is truly something to behold...

Storm’s display of power in this battle is truly something to behold, with her manifesting a giant octopus figure to help her fend off several gods being just one of her amazing feats. My favorite part of the scene is when she furiously slices off some hair when under pressure, allowing herself to regroup and properly prepare for the next round of the fight. Fellow weather-based Avenger Thor arrives after she evades, seemingly to put a stop to the fight somehow, but it’s almost inevitable that the two heroes will team up to put a stop to the Storm Gods.

Marvel’s Storm Gods Are Perfect for the MCU and Should Be in a Potential Thor 5

Losing the Comedic Tone for Fearsome New Foes

Luciano Vecchio's designs for new Thunder gods for Storm #7

Storm #7 sees the debut of some powerful new gods to the Marvel Universe, but there’s still so much more to be seen in the issues, and I can’t wait to see what unfolds as they face the might of Thor and Storm together. Their first fight against Storm and a newly-redesigned Maggott is gorgeously depicted, and each individual god has a fresh character design and moment in the fight that immediately makes them major heavy-hitters. The gods Mamaragan, Sango, Susanoo, and Chaac all come from different cultures, and equally electrify the scene in their introductions.

Not only do I want to see more of the Storm Gods featured throughout Marvel Comics after their debut, but I think they also make the perfect possible antagonists for a potential fifth film in the Thor franchise. Many people had a problem with the way the MCU chose to adapt Gorr the God Butcher’s story from the comics in Thor: Love and Thunder, aside from a great Christian Bale performance. This gives them a chance to rectify that with an amazing battle of the gods, and the stunning blueprint was already laid out by Ayodele and Vecchio in Storm #7.

Storm Is Bound to Make an Official MCU Debut, And I’ll Take It Anywhere We Can Get It

But a Thor Team-Up Makes a Lot of Sense

thor calls storm a god

Of course, an X-Men project is the most likely place for Storm to make an MCU debut, but I think Storm’s solo series proves that she can totally stand on her own. Whether it’s with her fellow mutants, or with Black Panther, Thor, or the Avengers, Storm deserves to be highlighted as one of Marvel’s top-tier superheroes and one of the publisher’s most powerful characters. The idea of her debuting in a possible Thor 5 really boils down to the new Storm Gods being the perfect antagonists, and the Storm series has firmly established them as part of Ororo’s story.

Move Over, Thor - Marvel Officially Debuts the OTHER Storm Gods of the Marvel Universe

In the grand scope of Marvel’s cosmology, Thor is only one god among many pantheons, as a new Storm story is reminding readers with its new gods.

While Storm #7 already beautifully showcased a ferocious fight with the Storm Gods, it seems that the real showdown is still to come in future issues. As the Asgardian God of Thunder s the battle alongside Earth’s Mightiest Mutant, I think the action-packed and high-stakes drama will continue to prove that the MCU needs to take some inspiration from the current Storm series’ adventures. Even though Storm has many powerful and exciting superhero allies to choose from, her team-up with Thor in comics and beyond stands to further solidify her deserved status as a true goddess in the Marvel Universe.

The Thor franchise is a key component of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), focusing on the Asgardian god of thunder, Thor Odinson. The series explores Thor’s journey from a headstrong prince to a wise and powerful hero who plays a central role in the Avengers and the broader MCU narrative. The franchise is known for its blend of epic fantasy, Norse mythology, and humor, particularly in the later films directed by Taika Waititi.
