In the aftermath of BLOOD HUNT and FALL OF THE HOUSE OF X, the Avengers are licking their wounds and reassessing their goals. One member takes the initiative by approaching Storm, hoping to add her strength and perspective to the team’s missions! And the roster won’t be the only thing shaken up when a deadly threat sets its vengeful sights on Earth!

Storm’s new costume is instantly iconic, and will feature prominently as the character is highlighted across multiple Marvel Comics titles.

Storm's new costume contains many beloved elements from some of her past looks, while still giving her an update for the X-franchise's new era. Lucas Werneck will be doing art for the Storm solo title debuting in October 2024, but his exciting redesign will first be seen in action during Storm's latest tenure with in Avengers. While the new look remains faithful to Ororo’s original costume created by Dave Cockrum, Werneck’s design has enough original flair to boldly stand out alongside Storm’s most iconic costumes.

The updated costume builds off of Russell Dauterman’s latest redesign and Hellfire Gala look for the character but has more of a superheroic edge, perfect for her crossing over to the Avengers. Storm’s black-and-gold suit pairs strongly with the return of the red gem, along with her famous lightning accessories and glorious cloud-like textured hair. Though she has had a wide variety of costumes and looks since her 1975 debut, Storm’s new costume is instantly iconic, and will feature prominently as the character is highlighted across multiple Marvel Comics titles, as she approaches her 50th anniversary.

Vecchio variant cover is an homage to the cover of Avengers #144; it features the weather goddess’ new black-and-gold costume in all its glory. With her iconic cape, lightning accents, and a gold X across the chest, Ororo’s new costume encapsulates her rich comic history in a brilliant image.

Storm Is Finally Getting a Much Deserved Spotlight in Marvel Comics

Storm #1– Written By Murewa Ayodele, Art By Lucas Werneck

Storm descends from the sky, arriving at Avengers Mansion in New York City

As Storm fights for mutants and the Marvel Universe overall in a fierce new costume, she’ll demonstrate herself as one of the mightiest heroes on any team she chooses.

With a new stint in the Avengers, and her Murewa Ayodele-penned solo series in the pipeline, Marvel Comics is finally making Storm the focal character she has earned the right to be. She’s also been featured prominently in the Ultimate universe, appearing in Ultimate Black Panther and even inspiring a legacy character in Ultimate X-Men. As one of the most iconic mutants and a fan-favorite character overall, her growing status in the publisher’s books beyond the X-Men is well deserved. Following her updated costume and positioning across multiple Marvel books, Storm will further prove herself as a major force to be reckoned with.

Though she’s been on the Avengers previously, and had a solo book before, her doing both as the rise "From the Ashes" is an exciting development for the character. While it would be nice for her to lead an X-team, the gold X across her new costume still lets Ororo be a strong ambassador for mutantkind in her other books. As Storm fights for mutants and the Marvel Universe overall in a fierce new costume, she’ll demonstrate herself as one of the mightiest heroes on any team she chooses.
