Mind Flayer was still around and had new (terrifying) plans, and the Russians had been experimenting and opening yet another gate in Hawkins at an underground lab below the new Starcourt Mall.

It was a lot, yet the series managed to give each subplot enough time to properly develop. By the end of The identity of the American prisoner and what truly happened to Hopper are the biggest questions fans are waiting for season 4 to answer, but in the meantime, they have come up with lots of theories.

Many fans are convinced Hopper is alive, and is either trapped in the Upside Down or imprisoned by the Russians. Of course, the Duffer Brothers haven’t revealed any details on Hopper’s fate, but they might have dropped a big clue in season 3 – but it was a very hidden one.

Back in July, Will is a very creative kid and is constantly drawing, something that helped the group in season 2 as it was his way of communicating when the Mind Flayer was taking control of him. Many of his drawings can be seen in his room, and some of them are shown in the tour, including one depicting a man in a prison.

Will developing powers in season 4, which would be very useful when rescuing good old Hopper.

With Stranger Things season 4 not arriving as soon as fans would like, and the Duffer Brothers keeping every detail a secret, the mystery of the American prisoner, Hopper’s survival, and whether Will’s drawing could be a clue or not will remain. Even if it means nothing, it’s fun to see the production crew’s attention to detail and how they have translated each character’s essence.
