Netflix has released the final trailer for season 3 of a rewatch of the previous seasons.
After defeating the Demogorgon and then closing the gate to the Upside Down, the town of Hawkins has enjoyed relative stability and allowed the young characters to achieve some normalcy. As seen in Starcourt Mall and looking toward the future. Unfortunately, things are never so simple in Hawkins.
Posting on their official YouTube channel, Netflix unveiled the final trailer for season 3. Delving even deeper into the plot than the previous trailers, the new footage reveals just how harrowing and action-packed the days to come will prove to be for the show's core characters. All while maintaining its signature 80s-nostalgic air inspired by the works of Stephen King and Steven Spielberg. Check it out below:
Season 3 will see the return of the Mind Flayer. Though previously defeated, it remains stuck on the heroes' side of the newly closed rift. As such, it'll seek out a new host in order to ensure not only its survival but destroy Eleven, her friends, and her world. This time around, the voice of the creature is ominously heard. Used as almost a voiceover, it would appear that it chooses Billy to be its vessel. Like Max, Billy was a season 2 addition to the show. Plaguing mostly Steve Harrington, Billy was a human antagonist used to balance out the supernatural menaces.
Steve and Dustin coming across a vial of a mysterious substance, the events definitely seem more globally expanded than in previous seasons.
Though it may seem repetitive to revisit The Mind Flayer as the main supernatural villain, rather than escalate further, it actually makes sense to the Stranger Things formula. Whilst season 1 saw the defeat of The Demogorgon, the situation with the already open rift wasn't dealt with until the finale of season 2. As such, with that closed, season 3 is the perfect time to deal with The Mind Flayer once and for all. Whatever the case, all in all, season 3 appears to be shaping up to be as dark and action-packed as previously d.
Stranger Things season 3 will be released in its entirety on July 4.
