Stranger Things Season 3 will continue the 1980s-set, supernatural drama set in-and-upside-down Hawkins, Indiana. Netflix's blockbuster TV show has become one of the streaming service's headline shows, making stars out of its teenage cast and making anticipation for the next season high. No release date is set - although it's not expected to return until 2019 - but with the season already filmed, we do know quite a bit about where Stranger Things is heading.

Returning Cast for Stranger Things Season 3

We don't yet know which of the ing characters will return for Stranger Things Season 3, but all main cast will be back. Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), and, of course, Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) will all be reprising their roles from Season 1 as the core group of kids. Meanwhile, teens Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), and Joe Keery (Steve) will be back alongside adults Winona Ryder (Joyce) and David Harbor (Hopper). Dacre Montgomery (Billy) and Sadie Sink (Max) also be back.

New Cast for Stranger Things Season 3

We've heard a few casting rumors for Stranger Things season 3 so far, but only Maya Hawke has been confirmed as ing the cast. She'll play an alternative teen girl disaffected by her life in Hawkins, so she won't be far off from Billy and Max last season. We don't know much more about here, but any mysterious new candidate on the show always comes with the possibility of being one of Eleven's 'siblings.' We also know Priah Ferguson will be back as Lucas' younger sister Erica and has been upgraded to a series regular. Given how she stole every scene she was in during season 2, that's hardly a surprise.

The Stranger Things Cast Is Getting A Salary Increase for Season 3

The biggest piece of news we've heard regarding Stranger Things season 3 is that the core cast are all getting a huge pay increase this year. The adults will pull in $350,000 an episode, while the four main boys will jump from around $20,000 to $250,000. There's no word on what Brown will make, but it's estimated to be between those numbers. The three teen actors, meanwhile, will earn $150,000. Given how massively popular Stranger Things has been for Netflix, it's hardly shocking they're committed to keeping the show's stars happy.

The Season 3 Story for Stranger Things

Though there are a number of clues as to where the story is heading in season 3 of Stranger Things, we haven't heard too many concrete details. What we do know if that more characters will be coming to Hawkins, and a new evil will rear its head. The previous threats are still out there, but between the government, other powered individuals, and the creatures of the Upside Down, Hawkins is bound to be in more trailer when the next batch of episodes drop.

Stranger Things Season 3 Premieres Sometime in 2019

With Netflix not beholden to the regular fall/spring TV schedule, there's really no telling when new seasons of their shows will arrive. Season 2 of Stranger Things, for instance, came out almost a year and a half after the original. Though we haven't had official confirmation of a date, all signs point towards the new season not arriving until 2019. It's all geared up to shoot this summer, meaning early next year could be entirely possible. Unfortunately, that means the spooky series won't arrive for Halloween like in 2018.

The Stranger Things Season 3 Directors Aren't Locked In Yet

With Stranger Things season 3 yet to begin production, we don't yet know the directors who will be involved. Luckily, the show usually reveals the information along with the episode titles once things are in full swing. For now, Netflix has confirmed showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer will return once again to tackle at least some of the directing duties like they have in the past. There's a good chance producer Shawn Levy will do the same, as he has in both previous seasons.

Writers Haven't Been Confirmed for Stranger Things Season 3

Like with the directors, we don't know the writers yet for the individual episodes of Stranger Things or who will oversee the entirety of season 3. Again, The Duffer Brothers generally craft at least a few episodes each year, so expect at least the beginning and end of the new story to come from them. They also help guide the entire season, as they've remained quite hands on during the entire run of the show so far.

There Isn't a Trailer For Stranger Things Season 3 Yet

As cameras have yet to roll, there's naturally no trailer or teaser yet for the show. Luckily, the filming start date this summer means we could get a sneak peak for San Diego Comic-Con in July this year. Then again, Netflix knows the popularity of Stranger Things and the anticipation for season 3, so they could easily just drop something online and watch it gain buzz. Netflix in general releases trailers without warning, but the level of excitement when it comes to Stranger Things mean something with more fanfare might surround the trailer release.

There's No Poster Yet for Stranger Things Season 3

Given how early it is in the conception of Stranger Things season 3, we've yet to see a poster teasing the show. Last season, however, saw a number of pieces of promotional art and images released. With that in mind, there's a strong chance a poster teasing the season will come even before a trailer drops. Again, San Diego Comic-Con seems an optimal time and place to reveal the first bits of marketing for the new season, so expect something about the show to come during the big event this summer.

Production Has Begun On Stranger Things Season 3

With a year before we're likely to see Stranger Things season 3 air, there's still plenty of time for new info to emerge now that production has official begun. Back in April, things kick off and the minds behind the show shared a cast video for Stranger Things 3. In it, we see all the familiar faces of Hawkins, along with new actors Cary Elwes, Jake Busey, and Maya Hawke. Of course, more characters will also be coming to the show, so expect some official details on the full cast soon.

Stranger Things Season 3 Confirms A Character Death

Before you get too worried, it turns out season 3 of Stranger Things will simply show that Will's dog Chester died after Season 1. Fans have speculated about this for awhile given the pet's absence last season, but it appears to be official as actor Noah Schnapp revealed a spoiler when he noted the dog's grave is shown in the new season. While a pretty mild spoiler, it shows the creators will offer #JusticeforChester in season 3.
