Solo Leveling is filled with powerful heroes and villains alike, none more so than its protagonist, Sung Jinwoo. Every story arc sees Jinwoo find more ways to make himself all-powerful, with there always being a fantastic fight scene to go along with that, and watching Jinwoo obliterate every enemy he comes across is often cited as one of the biggest reasons people watch Solo Leveling, if not the only reason.
Solo Leveling has an incredibly powerful protagonist in Jinwoo, but it would be premature to call him the strongest hero in anime. Solo Leveling has, naturally, led to people often labeling Jinwoo as one of the strongest anime characters around, if not the strongest, but as strong as he may be, there are plenty of anime characters who could defeat Jinwoo in a fight without even trying. A few characters like that especially stand out, and they all make it clear just how much further Jinwoo needs to go.
10 Shirou Emiya
Character From Studio Deen & Ufotable's Fate/stay night; Based On The Visual Novel By Type-Moon
Shirou Emiya is the protagonist of the Fate/stay night visual novel and its various adaptations by both Studio Deen and Ufotable. Shirou is an amateur magus who finds himself thrown into the Holy Grail War, a competition where magi summon historical and mythical figures known as Servants to fight for the mystical Holy Grail, with Shirou’s overall journey changing depending on which version of the story is being told.
While Shirou doesn’t start particularly powerful, his experiences in the Holy Grail War always spark an incredible amount of growth with his signature Trace and Projection abilities, and overall, Shirou, no matter the version of Fate/stay night, always ends the story as one of the strongest characters in the Fate franchise, if not the Nasuverse, as a whole. Shirou’s growth cannot be understated, and it leaves him as someone who could easily overtake someone like Jinwoo.
9 Naruto Uzumaki
Character From Studio Pierrot's Naruto; Based On The Manga By Masashi Kishimoto
Naruto Uzumaki is the eponymous hero of Studio Pierrot’s Naruto. Growing up, Naruto was ostracized by his ninja village for being the host of the nine-tailed demon fox that once nearly destroyed them all, so he’s devoted himself to becoming the Hokage, the leader of the village, and earning everyone’s respect, a quest that becomes far bigger than anyone could have imagined.
Naruto has a tremendous amount of growth through his gradual mastery of Shadow Clones, Rasengan, Sage Arts, and Kurama’s chakra, and after countless struggles, Naruto ends with Naruto as the definitive strongest ninja in the world, a fact that’s perfectly maintained through Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, as well. Naruto, himself, is nowhere near as active in the plot as he used to be, but he’s still left an incredible mark on the series that will never fade and won’t be sured by Jinwoo anytime soon.

Saitama is the protagonist of J.C.Staff’s One-Punch Man, a man who, tired of the mundanity of his life, decided to take up being a superhero as a hobby. Three years later, not only has Saitama’s training left him bald, but it’s also made him so strong that he can defeat people with a single punch, so despite finally being a hero, he’s still living his life largely unfulfilled.
Whether Saitama’s strength is being played for laughs or being played completely straight, every fight with Saitama has him showing off some of the biggest feats of strength in anime and manga that only get more over-the-top with every new arc. Saitama is easily one of the strongest characters in anime, and it’s to the point that it’s hard to imagine someone like Jinwoo even so much as touching him.

Najimi Ajimu is one of the central antagonists of Shaft’s Medaka Box. Najimi is an all-powerful being older than the universe who has spent countless millennia looking for someone to defeat her, and her latest attempt has been the Flask Plan, a project designed to imbue the students of Hakoniwa Academy with supernatural abilities at the cost of countless lives, something that inevitably puts her at odds with Medaka Kurokami and the student council.
While the Medaka Box anime never got to explore it, Najimi Ajimu has over 12 quadrillion abilities, with many of them blatantly overpowered abilities like atom splitting, power nullification, and reversing causality, and the only character who could defeat her was Iihiko Shishime in the manga, someone as blatantly overpowered as her. Najimi’s power is overwhelming to the point of parody, but it still makes her someone who could easily defeat Jinwoo without any difficulty.

Yhwach is the leader of the Quincy organization Wandenreich and the main antagonist of Studio Pierrot’s Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. After being brought to a state of near-death by Yamamoto and the Soul Reapers, Yhwach has spent 1000 years rebuilding his power and empire to restart his war with Soul Society and finally realize his ultimate goal: to kill the Soul King and return the universe to its primordial, deathless state.
Yhwach is strong enough to defeat characters like Kenpachi and Yamamoto, two of the strongest characters in all of Bleach, and Yhwach’s Schrift, The Almighty, takes things even further, as The Almighty gives Yhwach the ability to alter the future however he sees fit and negate abilities before they can even be executed. Yhwach was just barely defeated thanks to his powers being temporarily shut down, and that’s a perfect testament to how absurdly powerful a character he is.
5 Son Goku
Character From Toei Animation's Dragon Ball; Based On The Manga By Akira Toriyama
Son Goku is the hero of the legendary Dragon Ball anime by Toei Animation. Introduced as a strange, monkey-like boy with a love of fighting, it’s eventually revealed that Goku is one of the last surviving of the Saiyans, an alien race infamous for their bloodthirsty nature before their destruction, and that causes Goku’s adventures to shift more towards science fiction and become increasingly massive in scale.
Goku was a powerful fighter from the moment he was introduced, and that only became more pronounced over the years as he continued to gain power under numerous teachers and unlocked his powerful Super Saiyan and Ultra Instinct transformations. There might be several characters just as strong as Goku, if not stronger, but with everything Goku’s done, Goku’s incredible feats of strength across Dragon Ball undeniably leave him as one of the strongest characters in all of anime.

Sinbad is a major ing character in A-1 Pictures’ Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. As the king of Sindria and the head of the Seven Seas Alliance, Sinbad is seen as one of the biggest forces of good in the story and Aladdin and Alibaba's strongest ally in the fight against Al-Thamen, but at the same time, something sinister connected to the wider lore of the series is lying beneath the surface.
Sinbad was already one of Magi’s strongest characters thanks to having seven Metal Vessels, more than any other character in the story, but in the manga’s final arc, Sinbad ascends to godhood and gains the power to manipulate all of reality with nothing but a thought. Few anime characters ever reach the heights of Sinbad’s power, and even Jinwoo would be helpless against someone like him.

Rimuru Tempest is the protagonist of Eight Bit’s That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Satoru Mikami was once an ordinary office worker, but after his untimely death, he reincarnated as a slime in a fantasy world, eventually taking up the name Rimuru Tempest, and with the power to copy the abilities of anything he absorbs, Rimuru gradually becomes one of the strongest characters in the series who’s constantly at the center of major political conflicts.
As simple as Rimuru’s powers may be, they give him an incredible amount of versatility in combat and allow for consistently great growth, and as the story continues, Rimuru’s abilities become so strong that he can fight on a universal and multiversal scale. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime isn’t the kind of story where Rimuru needs to show off that often, but that doesn’t make his power any less impressive.

Simon the Digger is the main protagonist of Studio Trigger’s Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Simon, with help from his sworn brother Kamina, founded Team Dai-Gurren to defeat the tyrannical Spiral King and his army of Beastmen, and when tragedy forces Simon into a position of leadership, he has to grow both physically and emotionally to live up to his new role for years to come.
Thanks to the will-based abilities of Spiral Power, Simon constantly pulls off feats of strength of ridiculous proportions, and things rapidly escalate to the point that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann’s final battle against the Anti-Spiral sees Simon create a Gunmen multiple times larger than the known universe. The versatility and raw power of Spiral Power are nearly unmatched in anime, and few characters can come close to matching Simon, especially not Jinwoo.

Owing to the story prioritizing comedy over logic, ’s strongest heroes and one of the strongest anime characters, in general, with things like destroying stars, moving planets, and manipulating reality all being things that take zero effort on Bobobo’s part. Bobobo’s feats of strength far sur anything seen in Solo Leveling, especially from Jinwoo, and he’s probably the strongest anime character who could mop the floor with Jinwoo, by far.
