The X-Men are home to some of Marvel’s most potently powerful and overwhelmingly strong heroes. While not every member of the team may be a mutant, these heroes have certainly proven how dominating mutantkind can be. Alongside the X-Men’s many god-like mutants, these heroes rank among the team’s strongest .

From Colossus to Juggernaut, the X-Men are absolutely loaded with powerhouses that would make the Avengers jealous. These monstrously strong characters represent the peak of human strength and a world of physical power beyond any normal human’s potential. These heroes, for better or for worse, have quite literally changed the world with their power, many of whom have also tussled and beaten many of Marvel’s strongest non-mutants. Some on this list have even fought the Hulk at his strongest and not only lived to tell the tale but managed to beat the beast. These are the X-Men’s ten strongest characters.

Criteria Notes:

- This list will exclude X-Men villains and unofficial of the team.

- Non-mutant of the X-Men will be considered.

- Each entry candidate is judged by their traditional maximum power level.

10 M (Monet St. Croix)

Debuted: Generation X #1 (1994) by Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo

The mutant hero simply known as M is one of the X-Men’s most versatile to have ever ed the team. When Monet first debuted as Penance, she was equipped with red diamond skin and razor-sharp claws. However, she has since reverted to her original form after revealing her true mutant abilities. M’s real powers grant her telepathy, an increased healing factor, flight, and the ability to fuse bodies and powers with her three siblings.

Most importantly, Monet St. Croix’s mutation has also gifted her with beyond-human levels of strength, speed, dexterity, and genius. Monet is an absolute all-around threat to any hero or villain that crosses her, but unfortunately, her strength alone doesn’t compare to the harder-hitting X-Men on this list. That said, it would be unwise to cross this diverse hero, as both Magneto and Sabretooth have previously favored Monet’s overwhelming superhuman strength.

9 Strong Guy (Guido Carosella)

Debuted: New Mutants #29 (1985) by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz

As his mutant name suggests, Strong Guy is a hulking brute of raw power whose very presence strikes both fear and awe in those around him. Guido possesses the mutant ability to absorb kinetic energy and transform it into muscle mass. In short, the more damage Strong Guy takes, the stronger he gets. Funnily, it’s like the Hulk but without the anger issues. Speaking of Hulks, Guido once took on the Red Hulk and successfully held his own until the Red Hulk eventually dominated the X-Man.

While X-Men has many god-tier mutants, several of Stan Lee's original characters are STILL the most powerful in the franchise.

Strong Man’s greatest weakness, however, is that he can’t call upon his strength for very long. Every time Guido activates his power, the muscles in his heart also swell, thus putting a great deal of strain on the organ. Strong Man can only handle this increased power output for about 90 seconds until his heart can’t bear the stress any longer. Realistically, if the X-Men pushed himself too hard, he’d collapse and die of a heart attack.

8 Sebastian Shaw

Debuted: X-Men #129 (1979) by Chris Claremont and John Byrne

Typically speaking, Sebastian Shaw would rank much lower on this list or, to be completely honest, wouldn’t even be included. However, at peak strength, Shaw is a monster to behold. Like Strong Man, Sebastian possesses the mutant ability to absorb and metabolize any energy into physical strength. However, Sebastian prefers to absorb kinetic energy as he believes it is the easiest energy to casually absorb. Even without his powers at maximum strength, Shaw still keeps his body in extraordinary strength by punching a wall every morning after waking up.

At his strongest, Sebastian Shaw is a living terror. Despite his relatively normal stature, Sebastian had previously gone toe-to-toe with Hercules and lived to tell the tale. He often overwhelms the average mutant with his adaptive strength; with every hit he takes, he only grows stronger. Shaw has also developed a secondary mutation that allows him to absorb ambient kinetic energy, stripping him of his power’s primary weakness. At any point in time, the Black King of the Hellfire Club can easily lift 100 times his weight.

7 Doop

Debuted: X-Force #116 (2001) by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred

ittedly, Doop is an incredibly comedic addition to this list, but it’s not without warrant. Doop is, for lack of better words, a complicated individual. Almost everything we know about the extradimensional lifeform is vague and otherworldly, concealing the godly powers this being holds. While Doop isn’t actually a mutant, he originally ed the comedic X-Force/X-Statix teams, was invited to Krakoa, and now serves on Cyclops’s Alaskan X-Men team.

Although X-Men as a franchise has featured some of the most shocking deaths in Marvel history, the inevitable resurrections have been even better.

What makes Doop such a complicated X-Man to judge is that his powers only manifest when they’re needed. Normally, this booger-like alien is a laid-back drifter, but when the need emerges, Doop overwhelms the battlefield. In X-Statix #21 (2004), by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred, Doop dominated Thor in a one-to-one battle, even after the X-Man was severely weakened. There are very few X-Men with the power to rival gods, but this extraterrestrial creature is one of them.

6 Gentle (Nezhno Abidemi)

Debuted: New X-Men #23 (2006) by Craig Kyle, Chris Yost, Mark Brooks, & Paul Pelletier

Contrary to his mutant name, Nezhno Abidemi is one of Wakanda’s greatest heroes and one of the X-Men’s strongest mutants. ittedly, while we have yet to see Gentle’s full capabilities, there is a significant chance that he could be an Omega-level mutant. Nezhno has the ability to increase his muscle mass, much like previous powers on this list, but doesn’t require any outside stimulants to do so. Whenever Gentle activates his ability, it leaves behind a portion of his new strength, exponentially growing his physical power each time.

However, Gentle doesn’t prefer to use his powers frequently as the rapid expansion of his muscular structure causes his body to lose all sensation and endure violently painful seizures. To overcome this potentially lethal fault, Nezhno was gifted with Vibranium tattoos that are designed to alleviate the strain his body endures. Thanks to his mutation, however, the Vibranium was absorbed into his body, granting him even better protection from his seizures.

5 Namor McKenzie

Debuted: Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 (1939) by Bill Everett

Namor, the half-mutant/half-Atlantean hybrid and King of Atlantis, is one of Marvel’s oldest and most powerful characters, let alone mutants. Like most Atlanteans, Namor possesses vastly superior strength to the average human, both in and out of the water. ittedly, however, Namor’s strength does dampen slightly once he’s on dry land. That said, even on land, Namor has previously bested Luke Cage, She-Hulk, Hercules, and Thor.

Wolverine may be near-immortal, but he isn't invincible. These are some of the most shocking and horrific deaths Marvel Comics has ever seen.

However, Namor’s true power emerges when he returns to his underwater domain. When under the sea, Namor has taken on gargantuan deep-sea dwellers, raised and tossed warships, and nearly drowned the Red Hulk. Namor’s strength isn’t just due to his mutant/Atlantean biology, but also his royal upbringing. As heir to Atlantis’s throne and with his prolonged lifespan, Namor has spent decades learning hand-to-hand combat and swordplay, both of which have given him the advantage over seemingly stronger foes.

4 Colossus (Piotr Rasputin)

Debuted: Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum

While Colossus may not rank at the top of this list, he is certainly its most iconic strongman. If it’s not obvious enough from the metallic appearance of his body, Colossus possesses the power to convert his entire body into an organic metal similar to carbon steel. There is no set time limit for Piotr’s transformations, placing him leagues above this list’s other entries, whose bodies cannot completely contain their overwhelming strength.

As an adult, Colossus is an overpowered brute who can easily lift multiple times his body weight and dole it out on others, too. Previously, Piotr battled and beat both the Juggernaut and the Thing, and once momentarily held back the Hulk. However, despite his strength, Colossus still possesses limitations. The X-Man must concentrate to hold his steel form; if pushed to the point of exhaustion, Piotr would temporarily lose his steel body and his strength.

3 Krakoa/Arakko

Debuted: Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum

Is it cheating to include sentient islands on this list? Maybe, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that, despite their mountainous appearances, the islands are still mutants who once possessed a humanoid form. Throughout their multi-billion years of existence, Okkara, Krakoa, and Arakko's progenitor grew from a single mutant into a hive collective of thousands of lifeforms that it can both feed on and create. However, while Krakoa and Arakko may look like immobile landmasses, they do possess significant fighting capabilities.

During the Genesis War against Genesis’s forces of Arakko, Krakoa and Arakko assumed gargantuan humanoid forms that waged a devastating battle for dominance. In these forms, they can lift and throw hundreds to thousands of tons of weight, easily outclassing most of this list’s entries. The only reason Krakoa and Arakko don’t rank at the top is that, ultimately, their strength does have a maximum limit. While Krakoa and Arakko grow over time, therefore increasing their strength, the next two entries have exponentially expanding limits that could easily shatter the mutant nations if they ever clashed.

2 Rogue (Anna Marie LeBeau)

Debuted: Avengers Annual #10 (1981) by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden

Despite her small stature, there is no mistaking the cosmically potent power with which Rogue has been gifted. While Anna Marie wasn’t born with natural strength like most on this list, she was born with the mutant ability to absorb and mimic the powers, personality, and sometimes, the physical appearances of anyone she touches. During her villainous era, Rogue absorbed a massive amount of Carol Danvers’s powers and, for unknown reasons, has kept them ever since.

With Captain Marvel’s abilities, Rogue possesses an across-the-board sweep of superhuman enhancements, including the physical strength to lift hundreds of tons with ease. In addition to Danvers’s powers, Anna Marie has also retained a portion of Wonder Man’s powers, granting her even greater physical strength and the ability to imbue her physical body with ionic energies, once again expanding his strength exponentially. Rogue is a terrifying powerhouse packaged in an unassuming form, only making her all the more dangerous.

1 Juggernaut (Cain Marko)

Debuted: X-Men #12 (1965) by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Alex Toth

Easily topping this list as the X-Men’s most historically powerful hero is the Juggernaut. Right off the bat, while Marko isn’t a mutant, he was granted citizenship of Krakoa and currently serves alongside Cyclops’s Alaskan X-Men. Instead of mutant powers, Juggernaut is empowered by the raging demon known as Cyttorak. After permanently merging with a portion of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, Marko can always call upon the demon’s powers by using his own soul as an anchor.

10 X-Men Powers Even Hardcore Fans Don't Know Exist

The X-Men boast some of the most notable powers in the entire Marvel Universe, but there are a few obscure powers that some fans aren't savvy to.

Like the Hulk, the Juggernaut’s power is directly linked to his anger. As a human avatar of the Master of the Raging Storm, the X-Man has become a near-unstoppable force with the power to level buildings, cause earthquakes, and defeat waves of enemies with little more than a hand-clap. Now that Juggernaut no longer relies on the Gem of Cyttorak to maintain his unstoppable strength, his powers are effectively permanent, freeing him from a major limitation that plagues many of this list’s other entries. Truly, few can stop the X-Men’s Juggernaut.
